So I’ve been planning on rolling on a pvp server either as a pally or shaman, and in my research it seems that so many servers have massive population imbalances or are in the dreaded “Locked” state. Where can I go? What’s a relatively healthy Server?

Rolling on a PvP server is INCREDIBLY overrated. Blizzard has trashed Classic PvP with a slew of stupid decisions. And no one actually wants a balanced PvP server anyway. They want to be in the majority but not so much that the other faction leaves the server.
And don’t trust anyone when they tell you which servers are good.

Actually the better question is what servers do you currently have characters on? If the server isn’t locked or full it’s probably not a top tier server.

Incendius is close to 80% Alliance now. Play horde if you want to help revive it.

Just more Alliance to PvP with. I thought Horde players liked to PvP?
No complaints thus far on Thunderfury. Its a tad Horde side heavy and in BRM it can sometimes be a pain for allies but other than that really isnt bad.
As HS native once the population is that far gone it’s a matter of time. HS had an influx of horde during the free transfer period, but all it did was slow the inevitable.
People come for the Wpvp, some leave due to imbalance, then recruiting becomes next to impossible guilds leave and you are left with a 95/5.

well, my russian pvp server has 50.5-49.5 ratio.
Population imbalances because blizzard doesn’t know to manage servers properly. And any server you roll on has the chance to become unbalanced factionwise because of their decision making.
Nobody wants to see the server go the way of Heartseeker 2.0 .

Why would you roll on a pvp server? Must be fun ganking lowbies or steam rolling single players with your death squad. There is a reason servers are so unbalanced. Nobody wants a fair fight. Think about that for a while.

Pvp servers are all about the world bosses and locking down key locations for world buffs and access to raiding.
Keeps you sharp, there is a great many douchenozzles which means you really have to stay alert and have a plan anytime you go out in the world. I am a CAREBEAR but I enjoy the sense of danger I get from a PvP server.

Yeah, no. World pvp is emergent, that’s why I love it. Sometimes I 1v1 or 2v3 or 10v5 or I start a 1v3 just to see if i can kill one and get away or my group of 4 rolls over 2 guys and then finds out they were the bait for ten more or we have 100 people coordinate to hold down the mountain, killing raids until the enemy can mobilize and kick us out, or the other way around.
As much as I love bgs, structured pvp gets boring. World pvp is where it’s at, but it requires that people have a reason to be out in the world and that severs not be so insanely unbalanced that one faction can’t fight back. It’s part of why older iterations of wow were so great and I personally am having a blast.
