I’ve noticed during higher delving that if I cast Health Funnel on my felguard, the mobs he’s tanking immediately turn on me, almost as if I’ve accidentally taunted somehow, even if I’ve given the felguard a few seconds to build threat. I’m not well-geared (ilvl 560) and I’m finding it hard to do delves if I can’t count on Zig-amal to keep the darn kobold king off me. Has anyone else been experiencing this? Is it a bug, or is pet tanking a thing of the past?

Felguard is a dps pet, he doesnt have the tank increased threat gain that the voidwalker does.
I run felguard most of the time because my demon army melts things before it matters but ill switch to voidwalker if felguard isnt cutting it.
This is incorrect. Felguard has a passive threat bonus called “threatening presence.” Go look in your pet’s spell tabs to see what it is. Usually it is turned on by an autocast, but that can be enabled or disabled depending on the content you want to do.
What felguard lacks is a taunt that forces aggro to snap back to it.
Anyway, OP I’m not sure what the formula is for healing threat (it used to be something like 1 point of healing was the same threat as 2 points of damage), but my best guess is that you are healing for upwards of millions of health per second with heal funnel, which is what’s causing the aggro loss. Especially with soul burn, health funnel is a massive amount of HP restored.

I thought perhaps the healing was just overriding threat, but I don’t recall this happening in DF. Of course I also don’t recall having to heal my pet this much in DF, but delves are rough!
pet threat is at an odd place right now; it’s rather weak, and not only that some spells mobs have will purposefully swap targets and target the player.
Much like the nerf to drain life, i think it’s a means to get us in line with other classes for delves cuz there’s no other reason pet threat and drain life should be as low as it is.

Doing delves ive noticed the same thing, 1 health funnel tick and I am at 100% threat.

Even while questing, fighting elites is a pain. 1 tick of health funnel and suddenly I have so much aggro that my felguard can’t rip it off me until the mob or I am dead. Am I just… not supposed to heal it in combat anymore?

Once you start doing higher delves you’ll start some of those mobs are almost coded to ignore threat bars and go after player.
Especially those spider spider bolt casting ones. On delves 11 / 10 if you even peak those things will start focusing you even if the felguard is on them. Also you can interrupt them but they will just right into cats another bolt right after you use the felguard stun to interrupt.
Sometimes Brann will pull aggro and tank for you ahha. Unfortunately they didn’t give the Brann an AI script to get away/dodge from AOE abilities, the ai will also waste its interrupt every now and then.
It’s funny because he’ll screen don’t stand there while proceeding to stand in swirlies.
In general something is off with threat for the pets. Might be intentional though.
