Healing while leveling - dungeons

I’ve been noticing lately, i.e. in shadowlands, that there are times when healing in dungeons while leveling is basically impossible. Specifically keeping the tank alive. I think it only happens when there is a large level gap between the tank and healer. More specifically when the healer is much higher lvl than the tank. I consider myself well above average player/healer and there are times when I can’t keep a tank alive for small pulls that I’ve easily healed other tanks during.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Its just bad tanks not using any mitigation when pulling and its nearly the equivalent of having a dps tank the mobs. I’ve been leveling a priest alt and it happens about 1 in 3 runs, I simply leave because I don’t enjoy healing those types of tanks.

Yep healing was hard when I came back 4 months ago. Did LFD 32 to 50, which was hard. Probably because my gear was pretty bad.

50 to 60 I did the dungeons as the popped up during the quests. Generally very hard to heal things if you are the least geared person in the group as a healer. Did not help that most of the people doing the quests were alts or whatever as I kind of joined in the 3rd quarter of the expansion.

Was hard to heal tanks who wanted to pull big groups. I had to inform them at the start of the dungeon that I was undergeared so they wouldn’t go get all the mobs.

Every once in a while you get a tank with gear who knows how to play a tank and not a dps queuing as a tank to avoid the queue times and then life is easy.

Once you get some gear everything changes for a healer. Its not until you start running mythic+ that you begin to feel weak again. Then you realize how much of the game is based on how well people play their class and know the mechanics in the game.
