The fun part is anyone can play one. Why continue being a 500 round resto Druid when you can be done in a day and play a game that isn’t abandoned?

Because it’s a video game meant for fun?

How is it fun if everyone is playing the same thing?

You wanna have fun or you wanna win?

Both ideally.

Based on my sound anecdotal research over the last 20 years, blizzard nerfs thing that I level to play. So I will now be leveling my disc and hpal so that I can go back to healing happily on my shaman

the eternal dilemma, tbh

i’m old school and need to feel the class fantasy to play the character in a rpg game

i have really tried to be a fotm reroll but i cant play something i dont want to, i’d rather play another game

hard to care about fotm rerolling when you’ve already earned all the pvp achievements you care about and don’t need to sweat out blitz/shuffle rating to delude yourself into thinking that you’ve finally “broken through” for the first time

Which is rough because the class fantasy has fallen by the wayside to ensure everyone has tools for every scenario.

But still there isn’t anything else on the market. If there were, I imagine it would be eating pretty well right now.

Yeah. That’s why I like other games like Pathfinder from Owlcat and to an extent BG3. You can actually play your character.

I have no issues with swapping with whatever works best in other genres like hero shooters. I was a flex diamond tank player back in OW1 (ahem back when the game was GOOD)

Am i alone in wishing we had a Divinity: Original Sin 3, instead of a BG3?

Being tethered to DnD 5e diminished my personal experience tremendously. I know that system, I know its limits, and that took the excitement of team building away from me.

Its a fine comparison, OW experience and Arena experience. OW requires a ton of choice-making to succeed. Arena doesn’t feel like choice making anymore, it feels reactive to the plans of someone who doesn’t seem to need to try as hard as I do.

I didn’t care much for it being 5e but I would much rather it was based on the PF system, like PF2e

It does feel like you have way fewer choices to make in 5e, which though it’s one of its main attractions for mainstream, gets boring fast if you like to have depth in your hobbies. I do see how it using 5e made it more popular though, it had to be a no-brainer for the studio

I’m not sure how Divinity’s system would have been better. I personally think that DOS2’s systems were meh and I sooner or later got bored and decided to use the combat overhaul mod which I think does a better job of making combat more fun by not having you pidgeonhole into having a full physical attack party or full magic attack party, which trumped doing what you actually wanted to do

Give it 4e and we’ve got ourselves a GAME

thread about a competitive game turns into talking about house dad roleplaying games

holy moly man

hey it’s what we do when another game is funner

you shouldn’t rule it out, these are actually pretty good
