Healing needs in M+

So I normally tank however I had a decent set of resto gear and decided I would give it a go. I was in a 9 waycrest yesterday (fortified and grievous) and found myself healing a ton. The group didnt interupt much (my favorite part of tanking as a bear or monk is the endless stream of CC and interupt options) and the warrior wasnt using ignore pain at all plus he pulled the 2nd boss through fire constantly.

I found myself healing a fortified week needing to put out 45k hps average on bosses and sometimes more than that on trash… in a +9. Is this about average or is it safe to say the run felt like such a pain simply because of lack of mechanics? My druid is right about 428 ilvl with 2 crafted trinkets and a 405 weapon but does have 15% mastery which helps. Is that normal? Mainly tanking I havent really noticed any of my healers needing to crank those numbers in a long time but I do know grievous is a special kind of hell week. On grobulous I peaked at just under 70k hps by the second wave of minions between people just standing in bad. Unfortunately I only had time to run 1 dungeon before work but now I am feeling a bit anxious for doing another due to just how intense what should have been an easy 9 was.

This is my druid. And the set up I was running.

I can’t see your Azerite traits, but I would suggest:

  • More Mastery
  • Better trinkets
  • Ever Rising Tide (rare quality or better) as your major, Well of Existence as your minor.

Annnndddd I posted on the wrong toon.

That honestly does sound like the average pug, yes. Grievous quickly exposes when people are failing to avoid and prevent damage or supplement self-heals, so it’ll be a hell week in mid-level pugs.

Let’s put it this way. That 70k number you just reported for what has every right to be the easiest boss in the place, on a sub-10 key, is more than I pull on Mythic Orgozoa.

Your hps will vary hugely depending on the group and the affixes. 45k in a pug on grevious…yeah thats pretty accurate. Im sure there was a lot of unnecessary damage taken plus grecious compounds that problem significantly.

The challenge of a druid healer. You make a good group better but you also make a bad group worse, enjoy the ride.
