I am a healer, I raid as a healer, dungeon as a healer, battle ground as a healer and normally arena as a healer… however refuse now to arena as a healer as the melee zug play style has been unchecked for way too long.
I personally believe this is one of the primary reasons why healers are at a shortage and have a list of my experiences below as a reference:
HEALING A DOUBLE MELEE 3V3
- you are basically a heal bot, chasing meat heads, with no game awareness that don’t peel, don’t shut down CC, LoS consistently and don’t use defensives whilst Heals are cc’d.
The worse part is the above is normally rewarded with a win.
BEING TRAINED BY MELEE ZUG
- This personally is the main reason why I refuse to heal arena… being not able to move or cast is not enjoyable in the slightest.
If this is all arena had to offer I don’t believe anyone would play.
HEALING A CASTER AGAINST MELEE ZUG
- you just spam heal and pray you don’t get cc’d. Too frequently I play with casters who play very impressively whilst under so much pressure and having little uptime however… normally still eventually die to the seamless cleave.
HEALING AS MELEE/CASTER/HEALER
- this is actually enjoyable and really highlights bad melee from the good.
However if this comp is against double melee… the game is far from enjoyable.
HEALING DOUBLE CASTERS
- Generally enjoyable, really feel my positioning, play style contributes massively and do not feel that I am just a “heal bot”
Casters naturally have better game awareness and peel / use cds well… that feels more of a team effort when winning.
RSS has really highlighted how the zug play style is only getting worse.
Hopefully the consistent feedback makes Activision / Blizzard aware of the current pvp game direction and takes into consideration with future design.
I am not asking for them to be nerfed per sei, more so improve their utility and disadvantage the mongo play-style.
Would be interesting to have other healers input to understand if the above is just my opinion / experience… or if other healers are managing fine?
