Do I need add ons as a resto shaman?
I will add them if needed, just wondering.
I have mained shaman for many years, but never played much of resto at all, so it’s new to me.
So far, however, I am really enjoying the game play!

Needed? No. Will they help? Significantly. I’d suggest going and reading the resto shaman guides on wowhead or icy-veins. They are very thorough and have tons of sections, which include a section that suggests macros and addons.
I would just recommend Clique or any similar addon that just let’s you heal by hovering on your party unit frames. You can do it with macros but the addon makes it a lot easier to set up.
And weakauras of course, but that’s not strictly for healing.
I started only healing in 2021 for the last few months and already healed 20+ keys (got all the portals) and progressing through mythic SoD (Currently 5/10 on Painsmith Prog).
I started off healing small keys to get familiar with it then moving straight to heroic SoD to see how it feels healing in raid.
I personally only use a healing addon called Vuhdo (made healing a breeze) and mouse over macros, where if targeting a enemy it will cast Lightning bolt but if I hover over the Vuhdo frame on an ally it casts riptide and so on.
Literally one addon and mouse over macros is pretty much all you need to be really great.
I did the same thing as you though, I went to the forums to help me as I originally had no clue how to heal.
The only thing I use besides mouseover macros is 2x shaman weakauras that track all of my defensives/pots/HS and one that tracks all my healing abilities I use. Really don’t need any special addons tbat add clutter
