I don’t know why people who don’t do content where this matters are trying to run the thread.
The framing of the topic implied M+ and to a much lesser extent raids.
In PvE damage (dealt to you/your party) is two things:
avoidable
predictable
All damage is predictable, but not all damage is avoidable. As a group you want to minimize avoidable damage, and as a healer you want to be ready for predictable unavoidable damage. This is how “good groups” perform content.
But few groups will never have at least one person who takes avoidable damage. But since all damage is predictable, you may be able to intervene. But since that damage was avoidable, it’s not your fault if someone goes splat (results may vary).
That’s essentially the reason for downtime. Again, this is true for all PvE. It’s also why healers are necessary. For predictable, unavoidable damage.
Once you learn and become familiar with the content as a healer, there will be pockets of time where you do not need to heal. What do you do when you don’t need to heal? You DPS. Especially during bosses with burn phases.
Avoidable damage is usually a punishment and tends to be very harsh. If you take avoidable damage because you made a mistake, then you will typically die.
However all content also has unavoidable damage - damage you will still take even if you play perfectly. You still want to mitigate this damage as much as possible with defensives but the reality is that if you don’t have a way to heal off this unavoidable damage then your group won’t make it past the second trash pull. That’s what healers are for.
BQL was one of the easiest bosses in ICC.
She has 2 mechanics
Stack
Bite best dps every minute.
She is a joke. WA’s won’t make a difference except for telling you whom to bite.
Why would you do them at all on a 24? They can be skipped btw. (Reply if wanna know how)
Fairly safe to say, Reshyk, you can ignore him. If he thinks that people with 3.5IO got same skill as 1.5io…there isn’t much to talk about. Just don’t even engage and waste your time on this.
HA. HA. HA.
lmao. I can’t with this guy. tf you talkin about dude…hahah.
I also LOVE how throws Shamy into the mix…Saying that 7k dps rshamy makes no different… Solid bro
No I said you should not make mistakes on a +30 because mistakes on a +30 will kill you with no chance for the healer to save you. That’s not the same as not needing a healer. Please do try to pay attention.
i’d like to have clarification on this. Like are dps supposed to tank? what else is a dps supposed to do besides kill the things?
The only role that can really reach beyond its name is tanks because blizzard massively buffed them from how they used to be. Back in the day tanks used to do weak damage have minimal healing mostly living based on their ability to stat/gear well and use survival cooldowns.
It’s difficult for anyone to tank off-role because generally speaking you only ever want one person getting smacked at time. You get problems if multiple people fighting over aggro. Even in raids with two tanks you usually only have one person actively tanking at a time.
However most classes have some forms of defensive abilities and those should be used to mitigate unavoidable damage whenever possible. In fact, you should usually go in with a plan as to where those defensives should be used. Also in raids many bosses have tank swap mechanics which reset when the boss autoattacks a new target. While not always advisable it is possible to have a DPS player taunt, pop a defensive, and get hit long enough to reset whatever buff the boss has before the main tank takes him back.
Healing is a lot easier to off-role since the group as a whole has a healing requirement and it doesn’t matter who that comes from. As an example from my main class of Feral, every CP cycle I get a Predatory Swiftness proc which lets me cast Regrowth for free. Since Feral is bounded by energy and not GCDs, I fill my extra GCDs when I’m pooling energy by throwing that Regrowth on someone who needs healing. (Usually the tank.) I can go even more extreme and pop into Night Elf form and pop Convoke during times when the healer would be extra stressed. If I go Resto Affinity, I can even throw a quick Wild Growth while pooling energy.
When you pull the mob on the bridge with the circle, pull him back. Once he dies, all mount up and hug right wall and ride past the beasts together. Their “unhooking chains” is RP so they won’t get pulled. So you just jump down. Clear cats and the big boy dino will make his way down on his own.
The only drawback, if you wipe before you can pop the skip outside of mailroom, you’d need to clear them, as they also have Stealth Vision thingy.
I mean… we both know he’s going to dodge the question. But I’m a mediocre dungeoneer at best and I’m academically very interested in the answer here so I’m just gonna toss one out at random and say… Theater of Pain.
