I agree. When I’m healing, I want to focus on healing, not doing damage.
I believe it.
Yes it does lol. I’m just unlucky I guess but I’d say half the healers in my pugs in mythic+ don’t do any damage. I already told people about the ranged hpal I had the other day. Had one queue session where I had 3 healers in a row that didn’t.
People on horde are in for a rude awakening on Tuesday when it comes to pug healers
Honestly I’m not really invested enough to verify either way. I care more about discussing the broader gameplay philosophy behind healers doing damage. I don’t really care enough to verify every piece of small talk that pops up in these threads. If there was an argument being forwarded with the story then I’d care more but there isn’t so I’m not gonna worry about it one way or the other.
There’s a lot of things that aren’t mandatory in a dungeon. The minimum DPS requirement is significantly lower than most DPS players put effort into outputting. Regardless of how mandatory the damage is or isn’t, doing damage is still better than not doing damage.
I do agree that all players can play to the level that they wish and will settle at a challenge level that’s right for them, but the objective truth is that healers who throw out damage during downtime are simply better players than those who don’t. That doesn’t need to be a value judgement or anything… people play the game for different reasons and mastering the combat system isn’t that reason for many people. If people are fine with not trying to improve their play then it’s no issue as mine. So long as they don’t try to tell me that it’s not better play to do damage.
See, I’m also curious why you changed your tune half way through this thread and turned it from “Lulz, most you healers suck donkey tush” to “Lulz, Alliance suxorz”.
Thank you, this made me giggle…
This thread is basically a lovely microcosm of the “Don’t Shoot the Message” trope.
The message buried deep in here may or may not be valid, but when you look at the attitudes and behaviors of the messengers? Eeeesh.
I don’t tank on horde, at least not until Tuesday so I can’t speak on that side. I only have my shaman on horde
Yeah, the discussions you get on any forum tend to be reflective of what you put in. I’ve had plenty of enlightening discussions on the forums - even on this very topic. But you always have to do a bit of wading through the muck. On both sides in the case of the healer topic. There’s some fairly passionate individuals on both sides.
Quite.
And to be perfectly honest, I in no way owe most anyone in GD the courtesy of sticking to the proper decorum, structure and rules of organized debate. So I’ll grab my popcorn and amuse myself while following the rules of the forum itself.
Let’s face it. People who’s so against it are basicly LFR people and/or only done such low key level that it doesn’t really matter because the heals are getting carried.
My healer is on strike next week. Mind if I grab you for a few dungeon. It’s probably DoS and I’ll be a ventyr bear ![]()
I look at this from PUG experience standpoint. I think it is very telling that keys that have really good tank and healer DPS tend to go much much better than those that dont. In my experience they are making up for underperforming DPS. How often do we see that healer and tank legendaries/gearing/trinkets that DPS options are often pushed for better results.
As a resto main I have a lot of free globals to help fling doom on our enemies but im not going to sacrifice or put the rest of the group in tight situations to maximize that damage. The group hp comes first and then damage. Even 1k DPS overall at the end of the run can be very helpful.
What’s the affix next week? I’m already bored to tears of this week and no interest in doing high keys.
bursting ![]()
Push week if bursting
unless you’re playing w/ a trigger happy bear w/ incarn
Tbo when I do heal on my druid I’ll throw on some dots but my whole bar is full of healing, rezzing, cleansing keybinds. I do use instants but damn
I was in a gambit key earlier(about a 14 or a 15) and one of the DPS thought I was going too slow and decided to pull 2 different Murlock packs in addition to the one I pulled. It was a feral too so he wasn’t going to help much on the AoE either. Needless to say there were about 10 explosives on the map and 3 healing totems. It was kind of comical
oooft. I’ll be honest w/ you my route in gambit is very aggressive. You can do quad pulls there and just cc the scalebinders.
