Healers in BGs?

I noticed a lot of healers just bail after opening fights or generally within a few minutes of the game developing. Probably because its pretty apparent that the other team is destroying us and there is little chance of winning. So I was talking to a buddy, and he said its because people have so many alts. They can quit a bg, get the 15 min debuff, and just hop onto another alt and que up.
I noticed that a lot of healers doing it. Which is fine, I wouldnt want to heal a losing non-rated game. But my question would be…is there a healer shortage going on right now? Because if ive been around long enough to know this…If healers are getting plinked super ez in bgs or rbgs…they just dont que up. Is there something going on with healers that I’m missing? and I’m a healer. I dont know if I didnt get the memo or something.

A lot of games in BGs unfortunately can be decided in the first big battle. Sure there are exceptions, but nowadays I feel like you have it very one sided. A close game with no premades is a rare delight.

I don’t see a shortage going on, no. Most games I get into have heals, and most have the max number of heals on both sides.

But I 100% will leave a game if my team is doing 1/4 the damage of the other team, doesn’t CC, doesn’t peel and we’re getting wrecked.

Unless it’s one of those fun games where both teams just do awful damage, but ours is doing 1/4 of the other team’s awful damage. I’ll stay in those and be a tank

yeah i was just trying it. And it seems to work like this…teams clash. one team gets rekt (not even close, always seems to be lopsided…people leave) so I started doing it. And I would hop on another healer. quit…hop on another healer. And its a lot more fun to be honest! Why heal a bunch of idiots who only have one dps button. So then I would finally get a good game and I could quit all the crappy lopsided games.
Until I zoned into the game I just quit lol but otherwise…seems to work!
Working as intended I guess. I kinda feel like a moron just figuring this out now lol. It makes random games so much more enjoyable. since blizz couldnt balance a game to save their lives this works. only a couple weeks until new season anyways but still

Even if the game was perfectly balanced with zero gear gaps most games would still be stomps. A lot of people just dont know how to hit their their buttons

You just gotta find the little wins/enjoyment

yeah…i dunno. i been kinda playing all day and its nice because i can just leave game and go on an alt. try again. so the lopsided wins dont relaly affect us as much

When I’m healing, if we get super duper steamrolled off the bat, I’ll try and find at least one dude to pocket so we can just have some fun farming kills on side objectives. But man, if it’s just an unsalvageable loss where people are salty, hit da bricks.

Yeah I’m not even sure anyone is even working on this game anymore

You can even see this on the 10.2 PTR in the solo rated BGs. Not sure about most, but many of those matches are stomps and it is all equivalent gear. That is also with a significant number of the players having high experience on both sides.

It just seems like any advantage a team has (composition, even small differences in knowledge/ability) tends to snowball quite often even if gear is taken off of the table.

so in SL…they had all the systems…coonduits/leggos/and a few other totally idiotic systems at work. plus the gear upgrades with rating. So they said “ok ok, we are going to close the disparity gap” …and now we have one set of conq gear. thanks. but why is the game even more lopsided now that all the parasitic systems are removed??
doesnt make sense B

There are a lot of players with bad stats and bad talent builds. Keep in mind that talent builds have become more complex in DF and there is more opportunity for newer players to have builds that make zero sense.

I do believe that things are better now than in SL, however. But, disparity in knowledge and experience is still going to lead to stomps.

Don’t forget the third option. You play pres evoker and have to solo heal against a team with 4 frost mages.

Yeah. I main heals as well. Every time I swap to a DPS alt to just kill things for a change, I wind up Qing into a BG w no Healers. That or I get Healers in questing greens, or who don’t know how to actually play a Healer in PVP. Oh great… 200k HP MW… and they’re Fistweaving. This gunna be fun. Our Rogue popping Vial on CD will do more healing.

I’m just spit balling here but what if your team gets a buff if over half the team dies within the first 2 minutes or within 30 seconds of each other etc

I remember bfa having the best unrated bgs. And ever since shadowlands prepatch they have been one sided gear v gear crap shows. Only time they feel balanced is when everyone has honor gear, So that’s not true. Not everyone can play when you die in 2 secs. I have adapted but not every will or has. I was in pve guild in shadowlands and i used to ask why they didn’t pvp, And they just say it has went to sh**t.

So you and wow pvp community say it would be the same but, It wouldnt and removing any form of scaling in unrated bgs was one of the worst things thats happened to casual pvp. Anyone that has played any other mmo pvp would know this.

I’ve stuck to my games on my healer, but I understand why a lot of healers bail-- if the team doesn’t at least stick together in groups, it is no fun trying to chase other players down while you’re trying to keep them alive. It’s also no fun getting rage whispers or getting generally getting called out as bad because you couldn’t chase somebody down in time.

Most healers can read the crowd, and they’ll know if their heals are going to be used effectively, or if they have to chase other players down.

This wouldn’t work in practice, teams would just purposely lose the first teamfight to get the buff. And even in a perfect world where it wasn’t abused like that it would still lead to a pretty bad overall experience imo.

I’m against any type of artificial handicap buff. I prefer to stay positive and when the other team has more healers, that only means we have more DPS. More DPS = more damage and killing can happen. It means they have less DPS and our Healers have to work less.

If people could stop panicking just because of the number of healers, that’d be great. Use what you have and use your groups strength.
