Healer trinkets

Lacking a healer forum, which would be the natural place for this discussion, what kind of trinkets do you like as a healer?

I’ve had two trinkets that I flat refuse to use and keep in my bags for ilevel purposes because they are so user unfriendly.

The first trinket I have refused to use this expansion is from Uldir: Innoculating Extract - Use: Inject 5 stacks of Mutating Antibodies into a friendly target for 30 sec. Your direct heals on that ally will consume a Mutating Antibody to restore an additional 5164 health. (1 Min, 30 Sec Cooldown) Does this even work with mouseover macro healing? I don’t know how to make a macro to use a trinket at a mouseover target, and I haven’t been successful at using macros for target swapping. However, any healer trinket that has UI problems to overcome to be able to use the trinket is problematic. I took one look at the trinket and said “too much bother to figure out how to use it to be worth it”.

The second trinket that I don’t want to use is from Battle for D’A. I have the Ward of Envelopment- Use: [Envelop up to 5 allies in the targeted area in shared shields for 10 sec, preventing up to [48637 * (1 + Versatility)] damage taken by any of them. Damage prevented is increased when affecting multiple allies.] (2 Min Cooldown). The on use creates a targeting circle that you have to use on the ground playing “catch the melee”.

I guess what I’m saying is that I like boring trinkets. Looking at the trinkets for the current raid, I only like the intellect proc haste/speed, and I would be totally happy with a complete stat stick that was intellect and a secondary stat.

What kind of trinkets, do you like? And what class(es) do you heal as?

I am a holy priest and have 18 regularly used buttons in my current talent set up (can go up to 20 and down to 16 - but let’s be real, I not going to find a situation where I won’t take feathers as that is the only mobility I have available). This does not include leap of faith, offensive dispel, shackle undead, mana hymn, and potions. You could adjust this number up if you wanted to count those (or down if you don’t think divine hymn should count because that is mostly only for raiding because the tank will probably die if you use it in mythic+). I’m not interested in a trinket that I need to babysit and requires an additional button and additional UI set up or consideration. I occasionally raid but mostly run mythic plus.

I have a Baleful Branch right now (on use intellect with a 1 min, 30 sec cooldown). I have “/use 14” added to my macros for holy word: serenity (base cooldown 1 min reduced by flash heal/heal), holy word: sanctuary (base cooldown 1 minute reduced by casting prayer of healing/prayer of mending if azerite/apparently renew but who casts that other than trying to proc surge of light while moving), and prayer of healing. I get a lot of “item not ready yet” but it beats needing to monitor the cooldown of yet another thing with a weak aura and dedicate a keybinding to it.

I don’t generally like on use trinkets. If I need to burst heal, I don’t really want to start with a GCD that doesn’t do any healing.

Procs are okay except for haste procs, which throw off my healing rhythm. On haste procs, during the proc period, I start taking advantage of the haste, and then suddenly when the proc ends, my casts aren’t doing off. This is probably not a problem for people who spam buttons instead of timing them.

What I’d really like are just straight +int and +healing trinkets. Unfortunately, such trinkets seem quite rare.

Most use trinkets don’t use the GCD, you can just macro them to a heal you use often that alligns with their function and cooldown.

My most important trinket will always be my Alchemist Stone. The proc is nice, and the 40% extra mana when I use a Potion of Replenishment is important…for my life (and more importantly - for others lives )

I actually like on use trinkets that fill something missing from the healing kit, not standard “gain x stats for y seconds”.
For example, I was a fan of the Cake from Trilliax in NH, as a resto shaman you had no kind of absorbs and it was REALLY good for one-shot mechanics in high M+.
From this expansion, I think the one from AD is decent, it gives you a nice burst of spot heal / tank healing when needed.
And yes, you can use mouseover with the trinkets, you have to make a macro, something like: /use 13 [@mouseover]

May want to change your mind. That thing is one of the best healing trinkets all expansion.

/cast [@cursor,mod:ctrl] Ward of Envelopment; [@cursor,mod:shift] Efflorescence; [@mouseover,help,nodead][@player] Wild Growth;

This is my R button. No chase the melee necessary, just point and mash. It’s even off the GCD, so you can drop it along with your normal AOE heals. It’s also fantastic in Grievous weeks, and I can’t wait to farm up a bunch of extras to give to DPS, because you can trade it to anyone who can potentially spec into the applicable role but use it from anything.

I like on use trinkets because as a holy pally I’m used to rotating CDs. As people noted above, they are easy to incorporate into macro including mouseovers.

Some of the current raid’s trinkets are awful to meh for holy paladins though. The one where you have to stand away from other people, Incandescent Sliver? I mean, do the devs even know what holy pally mastery is? Unfortunately most of the high rated trinkets for holy paladin don’t even drop from the raid. /Grumble.

I just got acquainted with the not joy that is the Incandescent Sliver last night substituting in guild raid because my schedule aligned. A trinket that requires me to track what trinkets other people are wearing? Are all the designers melee dps and tanks? (Actually, that might explain a lot about open world content and how caster specs are generally more difficult than melee specs to level unless you have very serious positional control - read frost mage).

Its a curse! I also hate this trinket. Mythic requires a lot of stacking and it just ticks out. There is not another alternative trinket from the raid with int and crit either.

I generally prefer trinkets with predictable / on demand value - and not ones where the power comes from the proc (which may proc when you need it and may proc during a lull when everyone is near full health).

My secret weapon for a long time has been the Fangs of Interwined Essence from ToS. The mana return can be triggered 2-3 times in a raid fight and allows me to either be much more liberal with expensive heals on short fights, or keeps me going strong towards the end of long fights. In the end, all the additional heals that the bonus mana allowed me to cast add up to far more than a simple healing proc like some other trinkets (i.e the music box).

I also love the Ward of Envelopment. As a Shaman I have very little in the way of instant casts, so it actually fills a nice void in my kit. When running mythic + I tend to swap the Fangs out for Mirror of Entwined Fate, which gives me a second instant cast heal on demand. These are invaluable on affixes like Quaking or Volcanic.
