Healer to Mages: Get out of the fire

I’ve healed quite a few 5-man groups at this point, and I’m being frustrated by mages. I spend way too much time and mana healing mages who will freeze a group of mobs to the ground, then stand within melee range of said mobs and take a ton of damage.

That, dear mages, is the equivalent of standing in the fire. You’re a ranged class, for cryin’ out loud. You need to freeze the targets, then back away from them. Just standing there letting them wail on you is stupid, unnecessary, and frustrating to your healer.

That is all.

Mages are the new huntards. Just let them die.

I let a mage die 4 times last night in SM Cathedral, for this very reason. Did he learn from this? No. He waited for me to rez him, then went right back to what he was doing on the next pull.

HEAL THEM, DAMMIT!!! :joy:

While tanking I have noticed that ranged classes (besides hunter) continue to clump up right behind me in melee distance of the mobs. I just don’t get it. There are some really terrible players.

They’re hiding behind your huge bovine behind.

Beware the methane.

Mages like to freeze/cone of cold for that shatter combo. It’s just meter padding and makes no sense to me. I stand back and do my thing while they take unnecessary damage.

Anyway, that’s why they do it. People need to stop making such a big deal out of dps meters.

Oh I get it, they are just clueless that proximity adds to aggro. Every time I see this silliness I am tempted to go back to playing mage main, and play it the proper way.

I’ve ran 3 dungeons on my mage alt, and in every one the healer made some sort of comment about how I must’ve played vanilla or they’ve never seen so many sheep or how is it a mage could never need heals.

Is it really that bad out there?

If you do, make sure you roll a gnome.

Gnome mages, best mages.

I just wish mages just wouldn’t freeze targets fullstop!

like one little rogue will be standing in the middle of a pack of mobs and BAM FREEEZEE and now that rogue is facetanking 5 mobs because the mage couldn’t wait for the tank to get in range

Agreed, need more gnomes to eat.

I heal them as long as they have Mana and are casting, but if they’re oom and playing like fools they’re actually just useless and I let them die.

PvE server, my friend. Your dreams are shattered.

I’ll Nova stuff on heals, or adds so they can be CCd.

Lots of healers out there who stand right next to nova’d mobs and get wacked while hard casting too, lol.

I have mages do that to me as well. I’m trying to make sure I am in a spot so tank doesn’t accidentally LOS my heals, they are trying to position and build agro on everything, then FREEZE!

Half the time the mobs get frozen right on top of me. Thank Elune I can shield myself and heal myself. No heals for that mage though. Not until everything is dead and I can drink again.

Haven’t had this problem as much since I joined my guild though. Aside from one mage, rest are all pretty good.

Agreed, but RPPVP server restriction.

Yes, I frequently get mages that open up with AOE’s before I’ve tagged the mobs in the group.

Last night had a warlock open up with a grenade as I was charging. He died in about 2 seconds.
Had a different warlock charge ahead in RFD, and then come running back with 4 mobs on his tail, while everyone was drinking/regen.

I’ve also had healer that aggro’d and just stood there while the mobs beat on them, didn’t say anything, didn’t drag the mob back to me, just stood there and died, then got salty. Sorry, when I’m trying to aggro six mobs and mages and locks are opening with AOE’s, sometime I miss one trying to round them all up.

And that was just last night…
