Hello, I’m on my second day back to playing WoW after a pretty good break. Is this really what I should expect when I queue solo shuffle?
I understand I’m not even close to good right now, but should I really expect to be put in a lobby full of dps that are 400 rating above me? It seems incredibly unreasonable to be healing that lobby and having my rating tied to it.

Yes, you generally should expect to lose points if you go 2-4.
DPS MMR has nothing to do with Healers they’re considered only against each other.
No, it’s not the rating loss. That’s whatever, its the healing a lobby with DPS 400 rating higher than me; is that just an expectation for being a healer right now?
the other healer i assume is the one near you?
to them it was just 2 1900 healers battling each other while 2200 turd burglers are running around trying to be the best they can be
If so, then it’s incredibly punishing to climb as a healer. Instead of fighting comparative-level DPS, we’re fighting DPS multiple ranks above our current rank.
Yes, the other guy at my rank is the other healer.

yes, this has been known since forever friend. but u are right, it is more punishing with less reward.
Not really because:
You arent being judged against the DPS. You’re being judged against the healer. Theoretically, they could put 3k dps in your lobby and it wont matter since you have to play with all of them. The rating of the DPS doesn’t matter since your performance is being gauged on whether you can outperform the other healer.
Again, you’re thinking of it in terms of rating. My viewpoint is, is this an equitable match-up where all players involved can be assumed to be at an equivalent skill level? The massive rating gap would say imply that no, it is not. It is 4 DPS players getting to style on healers much lower than them.

the other healer was the same as you, this is their philosophy. you both had to deal while to them u are the same skilled. shuffling isn’t fun for healers.
its healer vs healer mmr and cr wise. also test to see if blocked
With how it is calculated, it doesn’t matter if the DPS are 1400 or 3400. Both healers have to be with all DPS. You will have to play the same comps as the other healer. Whichever heal gets “styled on” less gets more wins and gets more points for being the better healer.
Better healer gets points. It is what it is. Now if you were complaining about how a 2300 healer occasionally gets matched with a 0? I’d agree with you.

this is exactly how things go.
I don’t know how to do multi-quotes in the same post.
This little system seems very punishing for healers to participate in. Thanks for confirming, everyone. I guess I should decide if I want to keep messing with solo shuffle at this point.
Its punishing, just not how you think it is. Just do better than the other healer.
that was a fast edit. i agree now
shuffle sucks for healers. so u get it now!

Being 2200cr on dps = being 1600 on healer due to dps inflation + dps have 10x more agency over their lobbies so they can climb faster
The matchmaking is fair
