Healer’s Preference

Healers -

  1. What healing class do you plan on enjoying the most?

  2. What party members do you prioritize in your healing?

  3. What party members do you prioritize as allowed to die?

  4. What stat combos are most important in your opinion?

Priest

Good ones.

I’m not a healer, but i know one as well as the back of my hand so.

1 I can’t answer.

2: Tank > Good dps with CC kitablity etc. so a Mage / lock / hunter who are competdent would get the save over your meele dps and so on.

3: see 2.

4: Everyone has a different answer but, some one without mana is normally a good pairing for some one who wants to solely heal. Rogue warrior druid, etc.

Good healers always try to keep the party alive. Sometimes, in order to win the fight, healing on some players must be sacrificed for the most important roles.

1: I plan on playing Priest or Shaman.

2/3: Tank and myself tend to get highest priority by virtue of being important to the group not wiping.

I’ll naturally try to keep everybody alive but if it comes down to needing to let somebody die, then whoever I think is the least important to keeping us from wiping. If a player is standing in the bad being a big drain on my mana, then odds are they’re going to die if things go south.

As Pintero noted, DPS with CC/Kiting that can help keep us from wiping would also be important to keep alive.

4: Depends on the healer.

  1. I will play priest.
  2. Tank priority.
  3. There’s a dps vs. healing required ratio that’s estimated. Being a good dps could be outweighed by taking too much damage and being a drain.

Ah. The

It’s not really up to the healer who gets priority, it’s up to the tank in a 5-man and the raid leader in a raid. Healers definitely do not make these kinds of calls, healing is already kind of the least important roll in the game so making these types of calls without permission from your tank/dps would definitely result in a boot from my guild.

DPS however as a Lock I usually was the last one left standing.

I think you’re confusing WoW with your need for absolute control.

I’ll take " I never healed before" Alex for a $1000.

They’re trolling, though I do enjoy the thought of letting people die because of insisting on asking the tank before EVERY heal I cast and if they don’t respond fast enough, I let them die.

It’s all about triage. Tanks are always priority, then me, then DPS. If the people get lippy, they get moved to the bottom of the list.

I will admit that current retail WoW has largely eliminated the need for most healing. That’s the point of my coming to Classic. I love to heal and I loved making a difference.

I wonder how many players are going to be surprised how important healing and tanking and aggro will be.

  4. don’t even remember it has been too long but I feel like healers are less gear dependent than either tanks or DPS. At least they were when I was playing.

Yaaasss! I’ve let a few people, even tanks, die because they were really rude. Usually though, I played with a lot of amazing tanks and the dynamic was absolute synergy.

I would try to warn players if they were being careless (please get out of lava) but at some point you have to just let stupid be stupid.

  4. Stamina for solo/tank anything, spirit and int for healing because you gain mana on the go and it helps healing sticky situations.

I will wait until that person dies to taunt if it doesnt endanger the group (risking a cleave on people, losing aggro on something else due to lower rage, etc) as a tank.
