Healer Mage Tower challenge will make me quit the game, I'm not good enough to this game

After 227 attempts in the Mage Tower, more than 50k in Trinkets, enchants, and consumables, I feel like I’m not good enough to play this game, it’s just too demotivating. I’ve completed the other Tower of Wizards challenges, left this one for last, and it turns out to be an absurd 4-phase challenge.

I’ve managed to get past the first phase a couple of times [Out of the 227, maybe about 10 times], But a simple mistake destroys me in phase 3, 4, or sometimes even in phase 2.

I’m simply giving up and wanted to vent here. The other challenges were fun, but this one is just frustrating.

I tried with other classes, but they simply don’t have enough stuns, and the Shaman is a confusing mix of buttons.

Have you tried with this lvl 67 paladin? I would recommend you get to lvl 80 first, as you will have more talents available, this makes a lot of difference. I also think it took me over 200 tries to complete this tower with my paladin, it’s really annoying.

I tried with a level 80 Paladin, but I don’t know why I can’t comment with it on the forum [Maybe because I created it a couple of days ago]. You can find me as Xenarathi, I bought the DF gear that boosts a random stat and equipped all possible gems [I even added sockets to the DF necklace].

Thanks for the advice anyway hehe.

What spec challenge?

Sorry, I didn’t specify, I’m talking about the Healer challenge.

I made a video when it came out for all bosses there, maybe it’s helpful for you to see how i managed to do each phase, see what i did differently. I’m sure the talents are different now though:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsKoX5OYc9M

I only know how to play ret, so i had to learn when the mage tower came out in 9.1.5 all the other specs… to get the book mount (best mount xD).
Added tips in the Description of the video at the time, i’ll add them here too, but IDK how many of them still apply exactly like that, but feel free to browse through them:

Tips:
a) Be mindful of the sting cast by the archer, dispel it asap, especially if it ends up on yourself, usually an ally will take it, but they take dmg as well, i like to get it and insta-dispell it sometimes.
b)Also the archer will teleport behind yourself, so you can control where he ends up by positioning yourself.
c) The most dangerous pack is the 2nd to last one, use most of your CDs there, the last pack is dangerous too but more manageable.
d) The phases between 1st and last ones are pretty easy, i never died there, you have plenty of time to wait for cds if needed, so don’t rush and you’ll be fine.
e) 2nd phase where you’re surrounded by orbs, i recommend waiting for them to get closer and then drop your aoe to whittle them down, once they are close to dying, bubble and go to town on them before it ends.
f) The phase right before the last boss, where you have to heal the adds and your allies, heal the first set, then let an archer from the 2nd set to get to the boss, it will cause a RP event to take longer before it’s spawned to be killed, giving you enough time to drink (do this first as healing your allies places you in combat) then heal your allies, and able to get holy power on the add before the boss gets active.
g) The boss phase, focus more on keeping your allies topped, yourself around 40-50%, but you need to take note of when the boss will jump on you versus when the explosion will occur, drop to around 30% when the explosion occurs, but have something to instantly heal yourself if the boss jumps on you right after.
h) Your dps isn’t much here, so don’t go out of your way to deal much dmg, getting more space will be more valuable in the end, keeping everyone alive including yourself will matter more.
i) Start the boss by using your cd’s asap, whatever you can in 1-2 gcd’s then stun the boss immediately, so you get him before he casts the leap and makes the dmg zone.
j) Worry more about healing than saving your mana, having 50% mana but dying or your allies dying will not be helpful one bit.
k) Use your hammer of justice to stun the boss on cooldown, don’t be like me and forget about it.

Talents:
15 - Light’s Hammer - best aoe healing and dps combo talent
25 - Saved by the Light - very good talent that can save yours or your allies lives
30 - Blinding Light - good for interrupting the melee adds knives aoe / last boss you can change to Fist of Justice to use more often on boss, to delay him
35 - Unbreakable Spirit - i forgot to change back to it for first areas, but it’s the best option here, Cavalier for last boss to get faster out of the dmg zones if needed
40 - Divine Purpose - procs often enough to be useful
45 - Avenging Crusader - good for any phase as it pretty much tops off you and your allies
50 - Beacon of Faith - easier to top off your allies with 2 beacons

I swear I’m following them to the letter, but this challenge is just too insane, in phase 1, wave 4, the archer and the soldier throw everything at me at once, although I managed to get past it, the final boss always destroys me, it’s just too difficult.

I spent all my gold and still can’t do it, it’s too sad, I feel like I’m not progressing, I must be really bad; 230 trys. :frowning:

But I really appreciate your help, thank you very much.

PDT: Awesome interface, clean and elegant. It makes me feel like you’re at a level I’ll never reach haha.

Try and save cd’s for that, including trinket (get that trinket, it’s really really good, does dmg and heals! Run The Emerald Nightmare raid for Ravaged Seed Pod), since you’re struggling there.

Maybe it’s harder with the current talents… idk, i think i did it in 18-25 tries and i never specced holy before that.

It’s z-perl for the interface, the party was pulled near just for this heal challenge, i usually keep those portraits under mine.
As for the holy power one if you care to know, it’s just something i made in power auras… then re-created it with weak auras(i can share the code to import into wa if you want it).

You can always try more.
Can you show a link to wowhead with your talent tree? Maybe we can identify something that can help more.

Also if you made a video and uploaded so we can see what issues you have, it would be easier to figure out.

Though it’s almost 4 AM where i am, so i’ll most likely answer tomorrow.

The Armory says your gear is i356 with 13k Health! (*wayyy below where it should be,). Get TWW gear and you’ll be golden!

I use this configuration CEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYAAGAAAAbjZYmxMziZMLzMjlZAbbz0WjZYMzMMwslBAMDgZDYjZmZmBABAMzsst0yMDbADWwAjZA [ Sorry if it’s not the same link you asked for, but it’s the same configuration that appears on Wowhead, “Holy Paladin Mage Tower Healing Challenge Guide - Lord Erdris Thorn - The War Within 11.0.5”], thanks for take the time :see_no_evil:

Mage Tower automatically scales to ilvl 120. The reason for this armor is because it gives me additional sockets, allows me to apply old enchantments, and the DragonFlight set increases a stat.

Previously, I tried it with ilvl 600 but it was much worse.

I think:

  • get Consecrated Ground - would help you kite if needed in 1st phase.
  • get Judgment of Light - will help your team heal themselves to remove some pressure from yourself
  • i’d remove Vengeful Wrath to get the above 2
  • switch from Avenging Wrath to Avenging Crusader

Last phase doesn’t need you to do much dmg, just when you can, focus on keeping your HP as low as possible, just not low enough to get 1 shot by his jump attack. Staying low is key to lower the dmg on your allies from that exploding debuff.

Also not sure how much you use Flash of Light, but Moment of Compassion is a 50% healing on the beacon target increase from a fast heal, it may help some.

The rest is just practice for last phase, stay low, heal allies, dmg when you can and most importantly… position the ground splash as close to the others as possible, to preserve space.

I tried all day, I have to admit it improved a bit, at least I managed to get through Phase 1 a few more times [although most of the time it still destroys me]. However, it’s very frustrating to get through the first and second phases, only to be destroyed by the Boss in the third phase, even if I heal everyone well in the first wave. The Boss just jumps twice and destroys me [or my teammates if my health is too high].

At least with the bear challenge, I knew quickly if I needed to retry, but this challenge can easily make me lose 10-15 minutes per attempt, if I even make it to the end.

I’ve tried +400 times and spent 4 days on it, it’s simply impossible. I’m giving up on this game and this challenge. I hope others can enjoy it, I guess my place is in Candy Crush or farming in mobile games.

But thanks for trying, I’ll never forget your kind gesture.
