I think it’s fair to want healer interrupts to be removed if you’re a healer that doesn’t like that responsibility. Reason being, if an option exists which is strictly superior to another option, the superior option will begin to be seen as mandatory, and it will either force people who don’t like that option to take it, or will force them to accept a lower status for not taking it.
I’m neutral on healer interrupts, but can understand how people who don’t want them suffer from their inclusion. It’s also true that those who want them and are good at interrupts suffer from their exclusion.

You know that any loss of DPS is going to be an increase in healing requirements, right? The encounter is literally taking longer since one of the DPS is now doing zero damage thanks to the poly/fear/etc. You’re still going to be ‘taxed’ no matter what.
A better idea is to increase healer damage so that they can meaningfully contribute and the party doesn’t live-or-die on one DPS having a consolation prize for a brain.
EDIT: Oh, and keep the kick. Healers should have agency in fights.

I dont understand why a player would want to lose an interrupt ability. The reason I rage quit priest was not being able to interrupt essential casts - I am talking about the big momma adds, necrotic bolt (aka 1-shot bolts), volleys. Don’t think these cancer skills are going away next season and while you can argue Disc priest have been dominant without having disables, don’t forget they used to cast broken absorb shields, the situation changes completely when all you can do is top up someone’s health.
“But its about making a game without pesky mechanics and less things to interrupt”
S2 and S3 are very forgiving with spells going off in comparison to S1 and you still get to see players getting sniped because they don’t bother interrupting. Sigh, Halls got stripped down from casters in pretty much every pack and players still struggle with handling two Obliterators in a single pull. If it keeps going that way just remove spellcasting from mobs or let CC reset its cooldown

Priests don’t have an interrupt and it’s just fine.
I think people are sort of overblowing this issue.

Interrupting is now a dps affix.
Good luck.

Players who die to an interruptible cast have their repairs billed to every dps in the group with an unused interrupt.
Payable in equivalent bnet balance if they choose.

i liked seeing the healer get the occasional far interrupt in melee comps that dont have a DK.
oh well.

I remember hating soloing Legion raids because I didn’t have an interrupt as MW Monk, then they gave it back.
Sure niche area, but it’s weird to not have an interrupt available.

False. It’s a massive L and healers do not appreciate it. This change is based on feedback from players that don’t heal. DPS are going to hate this change too when they have to cover all the interrupts. In the middle of ascendance or combustion? Too bad, time to swap targets and interrupt. Trying to cleave off the prio mob? That sucks because now you have to swap targets and interrupt. Your group has a shadow priest, mage, and bm hunter? Gonna be a bad key with all those long CD interrupts.

Plus… and I will keep beating this drum… there’s content outside of group content, outside of high-tier endgame content… where having an interrupt is just plain playability / QOL.
Blizz taking things away from classes/specs/roles, and people calling that a “win”, because it’s “not their job in M+” or whatever… is a sign of just how fixated Blizz and some players are on the idea that only “endgame” and PVP actually matter for designing and “balancing” the gameplay.
I seriously ran into someone who insisted that the whole game needs to be harder and more full of bonkers mechanics to “train” people for endgame, because they think that it’s the only actual point of any MMO but especially WOW.

Removing kicks is an absolute 10000% L.
If you want to be below average at the game, be my guest. Don’t bind wind shear and add damage. Stand there AFK and press only healing globals. No one is stopping you.
But removing kicks from the game for healers doesn’t make bad players better; it just removes agency from good players. Having less control over outcome isn’t a good thing for the game, it’s a bad thing.
I’m going to get title every season regardless of whether or not healers have kicks. And bad players that complain about having too much to do as a healer will continue being bad.
Not to mention, stopping casts that will kill someone is essentially a healing cooldown, in the same way pressing power word shield is. If I see someone gettting cast on player oracle disc and we have no stops, PW:S acts as a stop. Interupts are the same thing; they ARE healing cooldowns.
At the end of the day, bad players will always be bad, and hte best players will always be the best. Gutting the games complexity in the meantime accomplishes nothing.

It’s not a change that all will enjoy, but it may make me consider dusting off my healer characters. The more socially acceptable it is for me to play “pure” healing (as used to be possible), the more likely I am to heal. It’s stressful enough keeping track of everybody’s HP and anticipating big hits while also not standing in bad that adding anything to that makes the role too unfun to bother with, particularly being that the responsibility isn’t split in small groups and failures routinely get pinned on the healer.
In my mind it also just makes more sense for interrupts to sit in the domain of DPS and tanks. DPS and tanks place the lion’s share of their focus on enemies (especially DPS) and are best equipped to both quickly notice and promptly handle dangerous casts. Healers by contrast are focused mostly on their teammates and so fielding interrupts requires a significant attention split, particularly when DPS+tank suck at interrupts and the healer has to try to pick up the slack of 4 other players. DPS and tanks just need to do their jobs better.

Taking the interrupts away from all healers except shaman means I’m just not going to heal.
Removing my ability to crowd control and prevent damage means I have to rely on dps to do it; and I’m simply not doing that in pugs.
It’s the reason I switched to resto druid from disc priest. More crowd control allowed me to have more agency in how the group went.

Healing does not need to be made easier. DPS needs to be made comparably demanding so everyone is required to put in similar effort at each difficulty level.

lol ya new here? so many posts!
it just means dps is going to eat something right to the face and healers are going to have to make up for that now too (in crummy pugs). also going to suck for delvers who want to pull a caster away, or if blizz decides to add more fun “mage barrier” casters.
personally, while i don’t run instances anymore, i like being useful. kicking a cast is hardly difficult and doesn’t need a pruning.

Absolutely not. I want to interrupt as I view it as part of the healing kit.
Besides, DPS simply don’t interrupt. Heck many of them stand in poo tunneling away and you think they are going to interrupt anything?! If they can’t step out of the bad what makes you think they’d actually interrupt?
This is also why higher keys are easier. At some point the Dps do interrupt because they are competent and will be one shot if they don’t.

No they wont xD They’ll just complain and blame healers for not having interrupts anymore xD

Gonna be a wake up call for everyone prob:
- For lazy DPS when they realize they have to actually bind and use their interrupt
- For blizz when alot of us just swap to resto shaman ( or one of the disc playstyles for DR/absorb ) if pugging keys is that bad
- For healers when we have to sit through early Midnight pugs and none of the dps can press their interrupts and the group wipes
Tanks will prob love it though when they realize they can wall to wall pull again because there are less casters/casts in general. Stack R sham and 3 other specs with good aoe and interrupts+stops and watch them go.
IF they are nuking healer interrupts they NEED to do R sham too imo.

Sounds like a “them” problem.
