Healer helper addon advice

I’ve been using Grid2 for a while now and have really liked it, however recently I have joined my guild on a couple of BoD mythic runs and I have noticed that not all party members are loading in to the Grid. I found a post from 2015 where it seemed this stemmed from partial/unfilled groups which is what we were doing (on Opulence), but I didn’t see a fix for it.

Is there a healer helper add on that folks are using that would negate this bug, or does any one know a fix for this?

I prefer to use ElvUI with Clique.

I used Grid for a while, and I used Healbot for years, but Clique is so lightweight and ElvUI is pretty reliable. It’s just the easiest mouseover frame combo I’ve ever used.

I haven’t used Grid since–like–Wrath, so I am not going to be of any help with a Grid2 solution, but I wish you all the best.

Thanks for this – I installed ElvUI and while this definitely looks like an improvement in MANY ways, it’s definitely going to take some tinkering. Appreciate the response!

I use Healium, but on raids it really clutters up the screen so it’s not for everyone. I usually only heal dungeons.

Healbot is the best healing addon if you like the click type (who even uses mouse over macros??).

Settings can be a bit confusing at first but once you play around with them it’s quite impressive how custom you can make it to suit your needs.

There’s also skins available online you can find for your needs instead of making your own.

If it drives you crazy, let me know, and we could go through it. If you play around with it a bit, however, you should get the hang of it. Clique is the easy part, but yeah…ElvUI takes a minute to get set up just the way you like it. I still tinker with it now and again.

That said, I just can’t go back now that I’ve been using it for half the expansion. It’s a really good base UI setup. Depending on your preferences, I don’t like ElvUI’s name plates. I’ve disabled those and use Plater, instead. Especially in M+, the plates just aren’t sufficient for me, but everything else was amazing. It took me a minute to get my party and raid frames set up the way I like them, but they’re perfect, now.

It is still a very good mod, yes. I used it for a long time at the start of BfA, and I used it for several expansions beforehand. It’s always been a reliable healer frames mod, and anyone who doesn’t want to replace the entire UI with a package mod like ElvUI should consider Healbot. It’s still very good.

You might be surprised. Many, many players use them for all kinds of reasons. Healers use them all the time, and I routinely use them for my trinkets and anything other than a straight heal that I can use with a mouseover on the target frame.

I do. I have all of my Mouse Overs, @cursors, etc in a google.doc for copying / pasting template macros and tossing them on new toons.

Use the same - very customizable, a bit of work to get it how you want, but you can get it how you want.

The wowhead guide was (sort-of) helpful when i first started using it - got more out of fiddling ultimately - but its a high level look at the basics…

I use Healium, even though it puts a lot on the screen in large groups. I just find it easy for me to click heal people. Maybe because its what I learned on to heal.

I think I am figuring it out for the most part (it took me a minute to figure out how to make the bar with the Talents tab show again haha)

One thing that kind of irks me that I’ll need to change is the way that party members appear in the raid window. I’d ideally like them by role and alphabetical but cant seem to figure that one out yet. Seeing the debuff timers as bigger icons is already really helpful though.

I know mouseovers are more efficient and widely used, but damn I just don’t enjoy using them. I tried at one point to convert, didn’t stick with it. It just feels like there’s more of a tactile response in clicking frames to target. I figure in the vast majority of cases, that tiny fraction of a second won’t be enough to make a difference anyway. It CAN, but unlikely, ya’ know?

ElvUI -> UnitFrames -> Party (or Raid) Frames -> General Tab -> Scroll down to ‘Groups & Sorting’ (the last section) -> “Group By” & “Sort Direction”.

There’s no option specifically for alphabetical that I see, but maybe that’s what it defaults to after the primary sorting method. I’ve never paid attention.
