What’s with all the healer hate lately? Healers are the most under appreciated role in the game. If your group doesn’t significantly out gear the content, without a healer you will fail plain and simple.
How many times has a healer bailed you out? How about when someone accidentally pulled that extra group and the healer blew his stuff and saved a wipe.
At the end of your next run instead of stressing about how much DPS your healer did, take a look at their HPS. How many cleanses/decurses, how many interrupts, etc. how many times did they totally save YOUR rearend?
If your dps are good then there isn’t much to heal because people are avoiding damage and mobs are dying fast. If your dps aren’t good then you’re in trouble either way so meh
Healers are important though for sure and I don’t see any hate towards them. As long as they’re pumping dps and throwing offheals whenever needed, they’re super important
Just so we are on the same page, I have always pumped out as much DPS as I can so I don’t disagree. What I’m discussing is the fact that healers are totally taken for granted.
“Healers are taken for granted” is a pretty huge difference from “healer hate”.
But yeah they probably are taken for granted a bit nowadays. Dungeons are designed so that most trash mob mechanics are either avoided entirely (thru positioning or interrupts) or are instant kills that the healer can’t do anything about. So healers end up being mostly valued for how much DPS they contribute, which obviously isn’t going to be very impressive compared to the actual DPS.
The forums probably consider this a hot take but healers deserve no more special treatment for being a healer than a tank or dps do.
At the end of the run thank your group. Don’t be prejudicial in favour of a healer because they are a healer. Picking a class with a green cross doesn’t make someone special.
How many tea did someone else save theirs? Like you said stuns inturrupts etc but also large pulls only work if dps do enough damage to kill th before cds run out. Tanks survivability etc. It’s a group task. Being a healers doesn’t make someone special. Everyone contributes
What healer hate? I get to open LFG and hand pick whatever I feel lile running, with zero downtime waiting for a group to form, no trying to fill a key, etc. No thank yous required, not having to wait to play the gameis reward enough for me.
It’s just another case of " let’s blame the healer ", higher content is over tuned and dps is struggling. So they expect heals to add in some dps too. Never mind the fact that during times that the dps is struggling, there is a lot of damage received, so the healer has his/her own problems to deal with.
But, some people need others to blame I guess…
Sometimes, it feels like a portion of the community simply doesn’t appreciate anyone.
TANKS are too fast or slow. Went the wrong way or pulled the wrong mob. You didn’t skip that spot. You don’t know every detail of every instance the minute it’s released so you suck.
HEALERS don’t dps enough until everyone dies and then you didn’t heal enough. Everyone gets spread out but you still have to LoS the whole group and Yes, you better heal that dps standing in fire because his “parses”.
DPS - we are a dime a dozen and very expendable. As soon as the initial rankings come out, the community decides who plays and who doesn’t. If you don’t make the cut, then switch spec or class or sit quietly.
The fact I will interrupt and tranq shot the enrage, throw a trap to save a healer and move out of crap in the ground is meaningless when you are just one of the masses on a list.
And inevitably there are those that tell everyone who WANTS TO LEARN to be better to go LEARN WITH YOUR GUILD OR FRIENDS which usually removes them from our pool of options. Why come back to LFG if you aren’t appreciated?
I’ve been reading these kinds of threads for years and it kept me out of group content. Sometimes I simply don’t understand people.
I play a restro shammy and honestly I think you should have to heal before you are allowed to dps.
It’s so easy to see what good and bad play looks like as a healer. The tunneling dps are so obvious. The dps that consistently stands in bad is so obvious.
I’m constantly interrupting as a healer. That also means I know what mobs to prioritize. How many dps even know which mobs are important?
When is the last time you saw a dps use any of their tool kit? How about a slow on the bears in halls when they engage? An interrupt on sins? Nope, dps is too busy standing in sanguine tunneling their rotation moaning about terrible heals.
In short, I think healing is a great training ground for understanding the dungeon, the mechanics, and learning what good and bad dps looks like.
All the recent healer Hate is just a stunning display of ignorance.
