Right now M+ healing is completely dominated by shaman, evokers and druids with holy priests being almost entirely useless due to mistakes in class design. Its gotten so bad that many people have swapped to disc for the 5m hp shields and pain supression. Holy Priest talents center around reducing the damage a priest takes…when they would die. Once. Or preventing them from dying…after they die, which still counts as a death. Evokers get infinite escapes from aoes as well as the ability to dispel every debuff currently dispelable in m+, while druids have zero or next to 0 cast time on everything, with the ability to keep HoT spells up on the entire party. Not to even begin mentioning interrupts, stuns, etc.
Forgot resto shaman, since people reminded me. Gotta love having interrupts, effective aoe cleanses, a tank pet, sustain, all 4 types of healing/damage prevents, on top of the ability to self res and lust.
This is ‘Kick or die’ and ‘Cleanse or die’ The Season. Some healers don’t have, however, the ability to kick or even cleanse poisons and curses. Shaman is dominant because it is not only a strong healer, but it has all of these utilities and an oppressive CC kit.
Also, RDruid is undertuned and Prevoker is much stronger in raids than in M+, so I don’t know why you’re babbling about those.
They’re only roughly half the healer populace at the moment. Easy to forget! A lot of smooth-brains are going to say Shaman should be nerfed when, the logical conclusion is:
Every single healer should be able to cleanse everything, every healer should have strong CC options, every healer should have BRez or Lust, and PRIEST SHOULD BE ABLE TO KICK.
I’m shocked you said Rdruid & not Rsham in the OP. Honestly I think the idea that certain healers can only dispell certain debuffs and only certain ones have brez because ‘class identity’ is outdated. Also Holy feels button bloated but that’s imho.
Exactly. Every healer should be equal to the ability of other healers- not dominated by one healer, with 40 percent 2 other healers…and one healer being almost useless.
Maybe it’s finally time to let holy priest have one or more of the following:
not the worst mobility in the game
a kick
the worst defensive kit in the game, in pve only of course.
The ability to dispel relevant debuffs in a season where everything is a poison or a curse.
M+ healer balance is sometimes more dictated by utility then actual healing power. Having enough healing to function and being able to deal with more mechanics than other healers or provide a better group buff then other healer is often more important which is why the powerhouse that is preservation is somehow not dominating the m+ meta despite cranking heals in raid.
I’m normally someone who punches against homogenization, but in this case; well, I already posted my take in this thread. They don’t have to be the same spells, but every healer should at a baseline have the same value of a utility suite. I really don’t think that’s asking a lot, especially now.
