There was a comment in the interview about not being able to track specialized buffs or debuffs that is vague and needs clarification.
It could mean that I won’t be able to set up my raid frames to show specific buffs and debuffs in specific places of my UI or filter buffs and debuffs beyond what the game does for you (which would gut 90% of the useful functionality of why we use 3rd party raid frames in the first place).
It’s possible this just means certain very limited and specific buffs or debuffs for M+ and raid encounters won’t be able to be filtered or controlled and the rest will be left the same.
Idk if you can check other than global downloads of the addon which still won’t tell you who is currently playing…
That being said I heal m+ and raids without any healing specific addons. I make a couple macros for burst healing stuff but otherwise I only use blizz raid frames but i think its bc i played that way since vanilla lol.
It can get pretty hectic playing rdruid in a bad m+ group though. Sometimes after i have to excuse myself for a smoke lmao
For the most part healing addons only add the ability to customize the raid/party frames however you prefer. Also tracking remaining time on dots and bubbles and such. Not really earth shattering stuff. It’s just being able to organize the information.
Modern healing addons add things like defensive tracking and incoming casts which are very important like in priory when the sharpshooters in a big pull all decide to target the same person. This is what could be lost. But we won’t know until it happens
I tried to use Healbot recently and all it did was confuse me.
Mousing over to heal isn’t tactile enough for me. I also don’t always want my heals on my mouse buttons, for example on my R Sham I put kick on the mouse. I don’t use Shift or modifiers on mouse buttons either because it feels awkward. What is the point of using the mouse button if my corresponding hand has to be touching the keyboard lol.

Default frames would be fine if they simply allowed filtering irrelevant hots & debuffs. Raid-style partyframe, not the actual vanilla style, those are ungodly useless.
Of all the things to freak out over (potential and distant) addon changes, this ain’t one of them.
Mouseover casting has a bad tendency of bugging out and breaking, but it is built in and doesn’t require macros anymore.
