Headset with high quality Mic

Hi everyone!

The audio quality of my microphone is important to me; I know it doesn’t need to be high fidelity for gaming with friends, but it’s something I really value.

So right now I’m using a USB mic which is giving me pretty great results, but overall I don’t like how the boom arm reaches over my desk. I tried a low profile one which was better, but still not ideal and I’m not satisfied with the setup. I’d much rather just have a headset that has exceptionally good microphone quality, but that seems like an impossibility.

I wanted to reach out to everyone here and see if they have experience with any good headsets that have not just a quality microphone “for a headset” but a quality microphone in general.

Currently using Audio Technica AT2020 USB X

It’s going to depend on your budget, which I’m hoping you’re looking to spend more than $80+ if you’re looking for a good headset with a decent microphone.

Honestly, my go-to recommendation is usually a Razer Blackshark or the Corsair Void for around or just over $100. Not the best microphone quality but still decent overall.

If you’re looking for something that’s a bit higher-end, then I would go with either the Corsair Virtuoso for around $200 or, going even higher, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro–which is priced at $350, usually, because it comes with its own USB amp that also charges the battery packs for the headset.

I’d absolutely shell out the money for a quality set. I checked out the Arctis Nova Pro because the battery charging seemed intuitive and sort of fixes the biggest issue I’d have with a wireless headset, but the quality seemed bad. Maybe it was just the few product reviews I watched didn’t have them really dialed in right, but it sounded closer to my first Turtle Beach headset from 15 years ago than a $300+ piece of gear.

I never really looked into Corsair products, but I’ll check out the Virtuoso. It looks nice if nothing else haha. Thanks for the recommendation!

If that’s the case, I can easily recommend a Sennheiser HD560S and an Antlion ModMic. Both are wired, but really long cables.

i would get a good USB audio interface and a good mic with xlr output

mic → audio interface → comp
