Headless Horseman hardmode and melee

Just curious how the encounter is for melee. On my hunter, I have a lot of instant shots/procs. So I can move around freely. But it is move intensive, so it seems like it would be a pain. Even long cast classes seem like it would be difficult.

I did it on my ret pally and it wasn’t too bad. You just have some more stuff to watch out for. I’m used to dodging stuff in mythics though. Ymmv.

Half the time I’ve done it on my warriors the tanks just sit in the normal mode fire and won’t move him out so it’s hard enough to actually do damage without the hard mode.

It’s not that bad. I just move as I have to. It’s the Headless Horseman, if ya have to miss a second or two of damage to avoid damage, it’s not biggie.

I do a lot of m+, so maybe my opinion is a bit skewed, but I find it easy.

I’ve learned that I’m barely in melee as melee for that fight. lol But that’s probably because I’m not usually melee and probably suck at it.

It’s what you’d expect from retail WoW. Don’t stand anywhere and you’re golden.

Did it on my MW Monk, was doing fine until I got hit with something I hadn’t been able to dodge or mitigate. But then, I’m not that great at melee.

Pretty simple really.

Avoid the fire while at the same time baiting/avoiding the purple swirlies.
Avoid other players with the purple aoe and be sure to save enough time for when someone runs at you.
Run out of the purple aoe thats stationary on the ground.
Avoid the fire puddles.
Kill the version of yourself before it walks to the spot - cc/stuns.
Run to the orb if your are linked.

Again very easy to do, you just cant do much damage while all of this is going on.

I think this is the number 1 problem with a mixed difficulty in the same dungeon, you end up with tanks and healers doing easy mode and not knowing or caring about the others who took hard mode.

Like a healer last year could be in DPS spec, at a low level, and no one would even take enough damage before the boss died. But now if the tank takes hard mode they get a nasty curse, the personal add spawns so you end up dragging the boss halfway across the map and people ask what you are doing and the healer is like “Trolololol this is ea… oh crap the tank is dead”.

It should be all or none, preferably just all, because the whole lust and kill is just so damn boring, after I got my mount and plate helmet I stopped going in there until this year.

There is a Hard mode?

I thought you could only do the GF one?

I’m confused!

I think it is pretty bad if you get a full group of melee - because you spend a lot of time off the boss so killing it is slow. My DK seems to be able to ignore some of those mechanics though but not my feral.

With the 4 curses

I just tanked it with all 4 curses. It wasn’t bad, but I didn’t get the achievement for completing hard mode. It was my first time doing it with the new stuff, but I’m certain I just needed to activate all of them at the big wicker man.

That’s interesting. Is that an account-wide achievement? Obviously this also assumes that you did it on another toon…

I’m blind. You wrote it was your first time doing it, and not first toon

Stick and move brother/sister! Stick and move. On the plus side, it teaches awareness to what dangers you may be standing in. Good practice on avoiding damage and not just sitting in one place spamming buttons. :metal:

It’s easy because even in hard-mode, the damage is laughable. If the purple swirls actually did damage, melee would be a nightmare most likely

Done it on everyone but my Pally now. Not horrible, just some work. Pally is my next one to try this with later today.

Fight is easy for anyone who is paying attention. The problem is when you have weak party members that don’t even have curses doing lower dps than you, who is an 380-400ish ilvl tank.

So it takes pitifully long and you risk your chances to lose the curse marks.

If you didnt get the achievement then you probably failed it.
If you fail the stacking debuff it clears the curses and youre not on hard mode any more.
