Head transmogs are meh

I’m not huge into transmog and I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but all the helmet transmogs look really ugly or goofy to me. Occasionally, I will cycle through my helmets to see if I see something I like but I always end up going with no helmet. I admit I don’t have a ton of transmogs so maybe I just don’t have the good helmets. It’s not a big deal because I like the look of no helmet, but I was curious if anyone else feels this way.

Yeah I almost never use traditional helmet style armor looks for the head piece. Other than some of the rogues hoods from back in the day that scream “assassin” in look I think most are pretty ugly and detract from the overall aesthetic in most use cases (outside of maybe guard RPers). Now cosmetic stuff like the lunar new year flower headbands? Those are great! Same with glasses.

I like a little of my character to show anyways and I think that’s another thing against helmets going on. People take the time to make a character and if you have a helmet on unless you’re being weird and hiding all your other armor and running around naked you’re probably obscuring most of your character.

I found that by taking my shirt off, my helmet will always match my xmog

Tbh I generally feel the same way as you OP. It’s hard to find a helmet that is worth covering your customized character’s head n all.

On a leather class, I am a big fan of some of the ones that partially cover, more like a bandana or scarf. Something like:

or

Or like this character’s current xmog…sometimes I try to come up with a theme. I find that helms work better when aiming for a look rather than purely dressing my in-game self up.

I agreee, and the cute ones always hide my long hair. Terrible.

You need the Ragefury Eyepatch.

Yeah, I’d use hats more often if they didn’t chop my hair off.

If they didn’t make me bald I’d consider wearing them more but…. lol

My Rogues are the only ones that wear visible head armour, except the ones wearing flowers.

I make this look amazing, before this I farmed Krosus for the Heroic Architect’s coif. I love a good antler motif. Just gotta find something that speaks to you…

As a Tauren, I have it worse. There is no head mog that will look great on me unless it doesn’t cover all of my head.

I have the opposite problem.

I have tons of great looking helmet transmog but don’t use any of it because I don’t like my character’s face and hair being covered up.

So they all use metal or flower circlets (except this one with her witch hat). Which are fine but lacking in real flair (again, except for this one with her witch hat).

Maybe one day I will male characters and use the helmets then.

I actually prefer no helm and think characters can be mogged very nicely with both the helm and shoulders hidden.

My priest is still trying to get the “head” transmog from veiled argunite at the vendor.
It is the “cloth” hat possible transmog of that one witch hat or something; I’ve been trying to get it for so long that I forgot what it is called. It looks like the “little sister’s” hat model. So she still has a use for the legion mission board veiled argunite missions.

This is especially true on pandaren females. About the only pieces that look any good are ones like glasses/eye patches, etc., part of this is cuz anything else just chops their hair off.

I realize it does this for pretty ALL races, but with Female pandaren it looks just awful. It’s why I wish they’d redo many pieces so that if it’s like a hat(pirate hat, wide brimmed hat, etc.) They have a new model that takes your character’s hairstyle into consideration and is Worked into it. But that’d be so much work that I don’t see them ever doing it.

I wouldn’t mind if they did it with some helmets too, but least most of those make sense right now, they’re often covering your characters entire face/head, so you don’t even see them at all anyway. But the hat style stuff needs massive overhauls.

We need more hat mogs, sun hats, fishing hat, baseball cap, visors, fruit hat, beer hat, elegant ladies hat, safari hat, cowboy hat, cowgirl hat and more.

:womans_hat:

I typically rock eyepatches because my hair is amazing

But I am currently wearing a new mog inspired by a title I recently earned.

I think some head pieces look worse on some races than others.

Like Worgen and Tauren, only because of the unique shape of their head/neck and with Tauren in particular, horrible clipping with the horns.

there are some cases I like helmets on my shaman or warrior but generally i like either no head piece or something you can still alot of the face.

I agree a lot are meh.

I wish they would work on clipping issues. I want to wear the witch hat with my hair down.

I have to agree. Very few of my guys have visible helmets. I have found removing/hiding them has greatly improved the overall look of a lot of sets that I would have otherwise passed on.
