I’ll tell you what, if I can actually make it to 60 on a character without dying while utilizing trading, then I’ll contact you for the next level up
Fundamentally I don’t care if people trade, or group, or whatever. This is a community made challenge that has evolved over many years to the point it is now. I think the last thing HC wants here is for Blizzard to enforce the rules of the challenge. Things will only continue to evolve and you don’t want that process to be hindered by Blizzard, only enabled.
All you really need here is a separate, standard realm with a label on it that says, “If you wanna do Hardcore, in whatever incarnation, play here.”
Back in the day we used to have a level 1 rogue twink- arena master trinket and everything-that would hang out in Crossroads and beat level 17s in duels. Dude was a legend
do you really think anyone will use /makgora beyond like level 10? Its a novelty, nothing to get too hyped about. As care bear as the “hardcore” community is, complaining about the griefer boogeyman all day and terrified of pvp, they wont be using it.
Especially for warlocks it seems. I am very disappointed by all my fellow warlocks dying to the harvest watchers/other mechanical harvesters. I saw over 10 the other night in just a couple of hours.
PSA for leveling warlocks- VW will not hold any threat on those Mechanicals. They’re also immune to Drain Life.
Even when I was doing the somewhat similar Ironman Challenge at the end of Cata we called it Deathridge and that was with all the Cata changes that had made it easier.
It’s worse in Classic.
Trade goods and crafted items as there are quests that are not doable without certain crafted items in addition to issue of skilling up enchanting.
Warlock Enchanted Gold Bloodrobe quest - Robes of Arcana from Tailoring and a Gold Bar
Sprite Darter Hatchling quest - Elixir’s of Fortitude
A Stonetalon quest - Elixir’s of Minor Fortitude
Coolant Head’s Prevail quest - Frost Oil
There’s also the Look to the Stars quest in Duskwood that needs a Bronze Tube.
While technically available from engineering vendors I checked every vendor my character was near starting at level 25. I finally found a vendor with one last night…in Shimmering Flats right after hitting level 33 which turned the quest gray.
Just getting the VW “Tank” pet.
-Immediately running into something that doesn’t work the way most other mobs with regards to threat.
-Top it off with the mechanicals being immune to Drain Life so Drain Tanking (such as it is at those low levels) isn’t going to work either.
Basically it just seems that a lot of warlocks seem to get tripped up there.
I’ve never looked to see if it’s a Taunt immunity or Threat Drop, though I suspect the former.
I just give my VW a lot of time to hit them and then DPS very very slowly so they don’t come at me until they’re about half health.
It’s like “classic+”. Everybody has their own personal list of “what should be permitted, what should be required, and what should not be possible”. And all these people with their own personal bucket list think that theirs is the only possible list, that their list of complex changes can and will be implemented without requiring any development time. And will satisfy everybody.
And the mantra is, “The further hardcore gets from the original design intent of wow, the more authentically like The Original WoW™ it will be.”
That is not a whole zone of near certain death and wacky aggro lessons learned the hard way. Everything from Defias to the murlocks, that whole zone is trying to kill you.
Its like leveling in STV on a PVP server, the odds of death are very high.
Yup, literally the elements themselves are out to get your in Westfall… worse tha damn thing is like level 18 and you’re like level 12 - 13 when you first get there, and the mechanical mobs are immune to certain CC’s and human defias, murlocks, gnoles run away when low HP and bring friends, the birds often swoop outa nowhere, if you’re playing a rogue on HC you can basically forget about doing poison quest till way later because the tower of death will get ya at the appropriate level, not to mention the entire town by Deadmines chain aggro… I cant honestly think of a more “RPG” tuned zone than Westfall assuming you do it at the intended level.
