Before you shoot this down and say “no changes” consider the fact that there’s already ultra graphics options available and you’re literally able to play the game in 4K resolution/HD widescreen regardless.
Is blizzard ever going to replace the loading screens with widescreen remakes of them or remasters or upscales or literally just anything that looks better today?
These looked at least passable in 2005/2006 when you were using a 4:3 768p monitor but when you blow it up into 1080p or beyond and especially combine it with the large letterbox it’s incredibly jarring to see. Keep the originals handy as an option for purists though.
The artist drew it as a square and not a rectangle. And there’s nothing to add to it.
An entirely new drawing would need to be drawn. And right now black areas to the left and right of screen are “black” because that is where the drawing ends.
You can’t compare it to 4K resolution/HD widescreen because it’s a 3D game. 3D means that the camera resolution can always be changed.
It’s like taking a picture on your smartphone in portrait mode (not landscape), uploading the picture to your PC with a widescreen monitor, and viewing it. You will also get that empty black space to the left and right of your picture if you view it in full screen mode. And there’s nothing you can do to get rid of that black area on the sides.
Everything on Low(except Textures and Terrain detail), voila it’s Vanilla…ish.
It’s mostly just the water setting and the shadow setting that makes it.
It’s the equivalent of trying to make the Mona Lisa fit on the WoW Classic loading screen for 1080p, 2K, & 4K screens without there being any black borders to the left and right of the Mona Lisa.
