That’ disingenuous argument since i was only using their exact own words in point. Plus you’re literally arguing for a binary of only two types of server…
I think you’re going to have to show them it’s worthwhile. Hardcore play has been a thing for a long time, but only recently has there been a large movement due to the addon. I think that prompted them to give it a shot.
If a lot of players are interested, organize. Build a community on the existing servers. If there’s enough interest, you have a better chance of getting your own place to play. I doubt that simply requesting on the forums will get you guys what you want, you need put some effort in the project.
Why not?
As long as they have enough people to pay Amazon their server fee, who cares?
Don’t try to pretend that they would be taking devs away from important work.
Oh, by the way, I just found the guards again. I think that makes six times on Hardcorpse.
Clicky, clicky.
Because if they catered to everyone’s individual tastes, we’d have literal thousands of servers with slightly different rulesets. And it would actually increase maintainence costs to perform coding and UAT/BVT for thousands of varients of the same client every time there is an update.
ROFL
Slippery slope is a logical fallacy.
It not slippery slope. The forums are rife with people asking for their own personal preference changes. Let’s look at active debates on the forum front page right now, if we gave everyone what they wanted.
- HC w/ respawning BGs
- HC w/ DC Protection
- HC w/ revised resurrection rules (this could count for several servers on its own)
- TBC
- TBC HC
- TBC HC w/ respawning BGs
- TBC HC w/ respawning BGs and DC protection
- TBC HC w/ respawning BGs, DC protection and revised resurrection rules
That’s nine additional bespoke servers for a few brain farts ideas focussing on HC and TBC, not least to mention more contentious topics like dual spec, transmog, boosts (both in-game and paid), etc. Things compound quickly.
You’re right.
It’s slipery slope with a double helping of hyperbole.
I gave you the benefit of the doubt you were ready to engage in adult conversations again. I’ll rectify my mistake.
X for doubt.
I’ve been reading everyone’s very valid points such as “NEVER” and “NO! NEVER” and I gotta say I’m starting to see what they mean.
Even with a low level cap working for hours just to die in a random PvP battle is a tough sell. Maybe there’s some middle ground we could all agree to work towards that would eventually set the stage for this to happen.
Like when Bliz is looking to reinvigorate the sub count and release SoM2 or HC:S2 they’d want to invest some time and energy into some small changes like account wide unlocks for talents, weapon skills, reputation and profession. The addition of resurrection mechanics and other community suggestions that would lend a fresh take to a classic experience
I agree but it’s hard to get off the ground on a PvE Realm. Literally everyone here is shielded from PvP unless they opt in. I can elaborate further if you want.
Yeah, that’s problematic. I wonder if taking the PvP-HC movement to Grobbulus or a low pop PvP cluster would work? I know it’s not exactly what you want but the current servers are an offshoot from the popularity that occurred on Bloodsail. If enough players participate, Blizzard might get on board.
Just an idea. gL!
I appreciate your effort in brainstorming but that’s potentially a worse idea. Someone who wants to grief HC-PvP players on Grobbulus would be difficult to get rid of since he can rez.
I think we need to organize flagged play on Skull Rock or Defias some how. I don’t know.
On another note, the argument that getting gank’ed at 30 somehow makes the server not viable is silly when you consider 50% of players ‘gank’ themselves on the Official HC Realms before level 10. Contested zones typically don’t exist until level 20, so added a HC PvP Realm would be inconsequential to over 50% of players statistically.
That’s a neat idea, and also RP worthy. Skull Rock has some RP going, maybe get in touch with those folks and organize a weekly/ monthly event?
No. Hardcore pvp is the best. In particular if they would make it where you cannot kill someone grey to you.
Hardcore pvp is the most exciting. Stop limiting other peoples game. you could still play a normal server if you so desire.
Yeah, restricted pvp. So hardcore.
I think this is the only clear solution. Or grey-kills giving a rez sickness debuff that prevents stealth and the use of a hearth stone, similar to fleeing a mok’gora.
EDIT: I’d still be in favor of a totally ‘raw’ HC PvP Realm.
for sure. its not hardcore if you remove the hardest element of the game; the pvp. It would be even better if people just could not go to grey zones or attack grey players to ensure the best possible organic hardcore world pvp experience. like it would be in reality if this word existed and if we existed in it.
Rogues do get stealth thats true. As a consequence of that they do not get the heavy armor and pets or flash heal though.
