HC mods making grief appeals harder

Just a heads up for those who play hardcore: the HC mods have made a new rule that you always need a combat log screenshot to appeal griefer deaths. The addon takes a screenshot when you die, and, until now, that has been considered proof enough if it shows death under griefing circumstances.

Not anymore. Now you can show them a screenshot of Teremus the Devourer killing your level 12 toon in Stormwind, and they will deny your appeal because apparently that’s not proof enough that you were griefed. I don’t pretend to follow the logic behind this, but they make the rules so be sure to open your combat log and screenshot it if you get griefed.

you have to cut the appeals people some slack. they are overwhelmed with cases :expressionless:

Just reroll, you’re level 12 for godsake… this appeal stuff is pure cringe.

Yeah I know and I understand some new rules like the level 20 requirement to appeal DC deaths. But this rule just insults your intelligence when they try to act like they aren’t really sure if you were griefed or not when anyone who plays the game knows that there is no other way an elite 60 mob can get into a place like Stormwind absent griefing.

Asmongold got griefed on stream with no combat log screenshot. Wonder if they would have denied his appeal (he seems to have just quit hardcore)?

Official servers will be nice. No more appeals, but clearly flagging will be controlled, and so will aggro/kiting exploits. I mean, if those aren’t fixed, there’s no real point in a HC server tbh. The griefers have given Blizzard a very solid beta test illustrating all that needs to be fixed. Easy to do now.

The 12 toon was just a hypo, I will use a level 59 toon in the hypo if it makes you feel better.

And I am very aware that many here dislike HC altogether and appreciate the griefers. But griefing appeals are based on the idea that griefing is bad, and so it seems like they should apply in cases of obvious griefing, even if the player isn’t constantly checking Discord to see what new rules the mods have come up with today.

This is exactly why hardcore servers won’t work.

They will if the exploits are fixed. The griefers have given Blizzard all the info they need to patch it up so appeals won’t be needed.

KITing mobs isn’t an exploit and on official servers they’d be in danger of dying and losing the character as well. If blizzard removes all the teeth from the world to give yall a “HC safespace” then there’s nothing hardcore about it.

If you think blizz is going to actually fix anything, I have some nice mountain property in Florida I’d like to sell you.

I mean, I can’t fault you for thinking that. But I think they’ve been turning a corner the past couple years. They can’t be THAT stupid still.

Right?
right?

They’ll put the bare minimum effort in to chase the fad money then lot it rot like everything.

the bare minimum is no fixes and no appeals
i expect something close to that :expressionless:

I have a few questions: Who do you appeal to? What happens if the appeal is successful?

there’s a discord channel
if it’s successful you can do an authorized resurrection in game

Die = delete. No exceptions.

The massive increase in griefing means they are unable to cope with the number of reports.

This happens constantly. If it was a one time thing people wouldn’t be complaining.

Zone disruption is bannable. They should follow their own rules and deal with it, as they did in retail. Just because you think it’s hilarious that a handful of high level players are killing hundreds of levelers every day doesn’t mean it’s good for the game.

I likely wouldn’t appeal dying to a griefer because I psychologically wouldn’t care about the character anymore. But using an exploit to kill PvE players should be bannable.

How many times do you have to get trolled and reroll your HC tool for you to decide it’s acceptable to appeal? Like, just curious…

Also, it looks like Blizz is starting to hand out bans, so hopefully this settles down.
