If trading is allowed, here’s what we’ll see:
-Bots farming gold.
-People buying gold.
-Mages selling quest runs in Stockades, Mara, ZG, etc.
-Zero sense of achievement when you realise your tank and healer for the instance you’re running are both in BiS gear, sent from their main.
-The challenge makes no sense when it’s no longer a challenge. The hardest part will be getting to the orange entrance of Mara without being killed.
In my mind, there are three workable options.
-
No trading until lvl 55+
This way, raiding is possible. You can argue that there is no way for a tailor to get belt buckles without trading or whatever the complaint is but I’d say a recipe being obsolete is less of a big deal that resurrect spells being obsolete. -
Players may only trade with others in their guild and only after they have been in the guild 48 hours.
This way, all professions work, guilds are more social and rely on each other more, the 48 hours makes it far more difficult for someone to quickly buy gold from a seller, etc. Probably simple to filter AH listings by guild if they kept AH too.
This also allows for enchants in the guild, lockbox opening, shield spikes etc.
(This would be my preference) -
Any player can trade with any other player at any level as long as their account has a single level 60 character alive on the server. This way, there’s trading at 60 and there’s a reward for hitting 60. Players can eventually trade but they can’t buy their way to 60.
I’d also like to see no XP or loot if someone is partied with a player more than 6 levels above them for basically the same reason.
