My biggest concern that I don’t hear much of the community talk about is mail and bank alts. If people can dump their gold, reagents, and items to a bank alt every time they are near a mailbox, then dying isn’t AS bad. Starting a fresh character who you have some greens and money ready for is like inheriting generational wealth.
I love the social aspect of WoW when it comes to guilds, grouping, and trading. The point here is, hoarding on bank alts lessens the consequences of death. One of the best parts of hardcore is that everything matters more. Greens are no longer vendor trash, and blues become incredible. But when there becomes an economy of storing loot that cannot be loss after death, we start to see less risk involved and we become less impressed by a Ivl 20 in full greens.
Not to mention, this storage loophole effects everyone by enabling gold farming and AH item price manipulation long term.
Official HC will be incredible at launch, but in six months the economy will be gamed.
Even if you toss some inherited greens at a low level toon, you increase that character’s survivability for some of the early levels. Big deal, they’ll outgrow those greens quickly and be back to square one again. shrug
And anyone actually concerned with “maintaining the integrity of the challenge” won’t bother with this potential exploit anyway.
At least you are thinking, I know the botters are thinking the same because they want to feed the coiners who spend big bucks to avoid actual game play.
HC is piggybacking off of challenges like Ironman which required no death and nothing better than gray/white gear, no professions at all, no dungeons at all, all things your addon allows. It’s already an imitation of a harder self imposed challenge That exsited long before your silly addon did.
Getting official realms is great and having as little barriers to allow players to choose how they want to play is the correct choice. Imagine if they went by Ironman rules. Would you be happy?
Mail is a crucial part of the game, alts are a crucial part of the game. You can choose to not play without them. We do not need restrictions. Mail is great, bank alts are great, most people don’t get past level 20 ever. You don’t need to pigeonhole a majority with a minorities view and stance on things. Sometimes people will get cocky and die anyway because they think they have a barrier stopping them from death but no gear truly stops you from dying.
Wasnt really in reference to you but all the addon andies trying to talk big about SSF when they dont even know if the people theyre grouped with at 60 died or not.
Which is why i’ve been saying they need to give us a few regular fresh progression servers.
I’m gonna play hardcore, but i’m 100% gonna play it because it’s a fresh server and I can get the phase 1 experience from 2019 again
