i just saw this video and was impressed with its quality. sadly, the author is no longer with us but his videos still are.
isn’t that good? that’s good. i had no idea so much in game player-based/created lore was swirling around the ashbringer in vanilla.

Vanilla based lore is Legendary.

i kept thinking it would’ve been cool if they actually did unravel a real chain of clues that actually did lead to the ashbringer. they kinda missed out there. reminded me a bit of the lore surrouding the sword, excalibur, from arthurian tales.
There was a lot of “funky info” out on it in Vanilla, and it kept getting brought up every few months… then nothing because TBC ruined it all.
They even were talking in EARLY vanilla like we were going to get to open the Dark Portal in something akin to the AQ gate event…
That would have been epic!!! they really screwed up with TBC being level 70…
how so? think it should’ve been more levels?
I think it should have been more level 60 content…
The level 70 level cap and “Expansion pack” was a massive cash grab… IMO not cool.
could’ve worked if they just made it 60 more levels.
with just as much land mass and quests/complexity as vanilla. for example, if outlands had been as big as azeroth. i mean, outlands is whats left of draenor (an entire planet). could’ve been much bigger than it was.
if you think about it, outlands wasn’t even the size of eastern kingdoms. it only had 7 zones, vs. nearly 20 zones in eastern kingdoms, ditto for kalimdor. outlands was dinky by comparison. it was the equivalent of vanilla being only the bottom half of the eastern kingdoms. so like a fourth the size of azeroth (not counting oceans)
Exactly, only worthy of being additional content like a raid.
If you look at all the different expansions; none of them compare to vanilla for content.
I was actually shocked when I leveled through the different new zones by how small the new stuff really is.
Take for example WoD… Draenor is smaller than Outland… even if you remove netherstorm to make it fair; Outland as small as it is; still bigger than draenor.
Panda and Wrath weren’t even large… legion was also just microscopic.

so imagine if outlands had been as big as azeroth with as many zones and content and sixty more levels.
If you want a little bit of in game lore around the ashbringer, go to old hillsbrad in the caverns of time and head to south shore. Go to the Inn and you’ll find some familiar characters there talking about a mysterious artifact…

Tales of the Past 3. Awesome movie with the Ashbringer in it. Martin Falch made legendary status making that movie.

Yea, I used to love Hayven’s channel. I was subbed to it when he was still around. He mentioned that he had cancer and one day, and out of nowhere we got a video saying that he had passed on. Very sad.

Such a shame to see such a nice content creator pass, but such is the way of internet life, his video’s are worth watching if you’re curious about some removed stuff. I really loved his one about Benediction.

i always thought it was sylvannas who was a dreadlord, and that she had become so when she jumped from icc following arthas’ death, cause the target has to be dead before it can be copied. here’s interesting video that talks about that

Horizontal progression with ZERO class changes or retcons should have been the model chosen. More choices is never a bad thing.
But, we got Retail instead. x.x

I think they should 100% have ashbringer in game files to troll players super super hard.
