Havoc vs Windwalker

ive been going back and forth between the two classes and I find them to be somewhat similar when it comes to mobility and that’s what I like in a class, however I cant decide on which to main. which class do you guys prefer to play for a long period of time

dps/offspec tank

I love my monk. I don’t have much “serious” windwalker experience, but I think I pull decent numbers.

Most people note the difficulty in WW monk vs. Havoc. Havoc’s rotation is generally seen as a lot easier to play and less punishing. WW rotation takes a bit of practice, takes a while to get used to, and messing up can lead to some pretty big dps losses. Again, I’m not pro at WW monk, but I can tell when I “mess up” my rotation.

DH Tanking has seen some good boosts as the expac has gone on. I think with a certain essence or something, they can have active mitigation up pretty much at all times. I still prefer my monk for tanking though.

Monk allows you to perform all 3 roles (healing too) if that interests you at all.

All in all, I like my monk a lot, so I may be a bit biased. But again, it is a bit more difficult to play than DH when it comes to DPS. So, that’s up to you.

Dh by far. I enjoy havoc a lot more than ww, and as much as I dislike dh tanking, I dislike monk tanking more.

Tough call. I love the way windwalker plays, but can’t stand the animations. I end up playing havoc more, but end up regretting it every time I am fighting some boss and can’t make soul shards.

I have to agree they really need to update them imho for shadowlands or it’s going to look very dated.Love the gameplay and rotation but i feel like im not hitting hard at all from the sounds and movements.

Havok will be taken over WW 99 out of 100 times. It’s just really good currently.

However, WW is way more fun imo. Also Brewmaster is always a top notch tanking spec for raid progression. MW is usually in a solid spot also

WindWalker is generally more fun as it’s more complex. Undergeared a DH survives more, but with good gear I find WW more survivable. WW is generally a great pvp spec too and usually ends up OP during an expac.

You have access to a Pandaria portal and a teleport to your temple that allows you to return to the original place or use the SW/Dal portals without wasting your HS CD.

I played this DH since the end of WoD. I finally started playing WW and I can’t wait to switch to it full time. I’m just waiting for Shadowlands. I don’t have enough time to justify grinding the essences.

Dh since WoD? howd you get that to happen lol

Legion pre-patch.
Edit: to explain further, they were released August 9th. 3 weeks before legion.

and you prefer WW monk over it now?

Yes. DH is obviously the better DPS right now, but it just doesn’t excite me anymore. WW just has a more exciting tool kit for me. I enjoy Xuen procs, I enjoy Ring of Peace, touch of karma is fun, you can be more creative with their mobility, etc.

Well monks and DH are both pains to fight

But pve wise, monk requires a more effort to play

DH is smashing face on keyboard and nearly doing your max dps

can’t use monk roll in air

WW is more fun, but DH will be more effective. WW’s use a dozen different abilities all timed perfectly to maximize dps. DH’s can smash 3 buttons and do more damage.

DH just does everything a monk does but better. In PvP DH has an answer to everything the monk does. Heals better while still doing damage, has a purge, double stuns, darkness and reverse magic to save teammates, super short defensive cds that make DH not a prime target, VERY easy and forgiving rotation, and hits so often that they proc corruption left and right.

In PvE its even worse, NOBODY would take a WW over a DH. I can tell you that much, i’m 461 bag and even to 10s I can spend up to 2 hrs queueing for everything and NEVER getting an invite. I really wanted to go on my DH but blizzard made the smart business decision of not making essences account bound so I’m stuck with this crap dps class until shadowlands.

I wanted to love my monk but the effort it requires to be mediocre at the game because Blizz doesn’t believe in tuning anymore wasn’t worth it. Also didn’t like the simplicity of DH- so went with Rogue

I won’t be much help because I don’t play serious, just pve, questing etc, but I main this guy who is a WW monk for ally, and I main a belf havok DH for horde, so that’s funny these are your two choices.
I have a lot of fun playing both for different reasons. I’ve mained this monk since MoP and he’s always been fun to play.
I’ve mained my belf DH since probably mid Legion. I had a sub rogue at the time so really I probably did both of them fairly equally, until BFA. Now I just main the DH and run the rogue through things later.

Kind of hard to beat a belf that can more or less do parkour and safe himself with wings if he falls regardless if he’s inside or out. Zen flight is good for monks outside but won’t work inside, so there’s that.

I enjoy both immensely, sorry this doesn’t really help you, lol.

Havoc is very easy and will get the same (or better) results DPS-wise as WW with a lot less work.

WW is more mobile than Havoc, minus the glide.

As for tanks, DH and BrM are pretty much opposite ends of the spectrum. BrM will laugh at the bad guys as he smooths away the damage, but is very reliant on a healer. DH’s has yo-yo health with less reliance on a constant stream of heals.

So, it’s up to your preference for which sounds better.

This is my monk I forgot to switch. @Radobaan
