Returning player and checked out wowhead and it seems they have 3 builds Interia, no mover and momentum, so is this still a beginner friendly spec? I haven’t touched DH since early legion.
not with all the positioning requirements and emphasis on timing your micro goes like essence break and eyebeam. probably one of the more involved specs. not to mention inertia now added into the movement for damage mix.
no spec in wow is actually challenging really, havoc is just very unfun and one slip up and your dead or your output kinda drops.
also the discord community (some here) that has advocated for this playstyle is pretty toxic and will openly shun people in the discord if you speak out and advocate for a simpler more fun playstyle like bfa or late legion.
I think Demon Hunter Havoc is a pretty difficult spec to play well. You need to line up cooldowns and there is a huge skill in movement to play it well. You can play a no mover build which plays fine I believe and performs well! I’d say it’s on the upper end of difficulty for dps classes.
The comment above saying classes aren’t challenging hasn’t applied the thought. Some specs are really difficult to get a hang of, I’m talking about playing well and not just mashing buttons in any order. Beastmaster hunter is the easiest class to play and play well. I wouldn’t say havoc is beginner friendly, I’ve played with a few demon hunters and lots do not get the dps out of them that they should be.
I personally absolutely love how havoc plays currently. It’s really fun and challenging.
You’ll have to pay attention to things like frontals because of inertia but it’s pretty fun in my opinion. Honestly just try the spec yourself, I’ve played off and on since legion and I actually think I prefer inertia over earlier types.
You can play the low movement build which isnt “as great” but its still competitive and more fun to play IMO
If you’re looking for it to be easier, the low-movement mythic + build and the no-mover raid builds are really easy.
And I’d say competitive with the other builds, but some people around here will get their knickers in a twist, so I’ll say from my own experience you can easily clear 20 keys while holding more than your weight in dps with low-movement build.
Caster are easier to play than melee
You certainly don’t just spam Chaos Strike like the legion iteration of DH! I’d say Havoc is genuinely harder than it has ever been, but at the same time more fun than it has ever been!
The actual “rotation” isnt really complex at all. Vengeful retreat and fel rush are just awkward and clunky but get used to them and youre good.
I think if you play momentum or a no mover build it’s a lot easier to play. Havoc’s completely different in DF than what it used to be.
