Havoc Mage Tower?

Any tips for shadow phase? I’m only getting the guy to 60% hp before the platform fills with defile, so I’m obviously doing something horribly wrong

Have to bring him to the edge and kite around the ring, very slowly.

if that platform is filling up and hes at 60% you are moving way too fast.

This was my SL kill, just watch, may help you

Yeah, I was kiting him to the outer edge of the puddle every time he dropped it so that’s probably my issue. I thought he himself had to be outside the puddle.

Edit: Yeah so I just tried it again and even went and got the mythic seed pod trinket and even kiting along the very edge of the pool only got him to 38%… that’s not even tight and the entire platform is filled with defile, so no idea if the DPS check is just tuned weird or what

It’s horribly tuned. I have sockets on all my gear, use old world buffs, flasks. Enchants, etc. war scrolls for extra attack power. Drums for lust. Potion of unbridled fury. Even with all of that I’m consistently failing around 20%

At this point. I’m convinced this specific version of the mage tower is a psychological experiment designed to break us all emotionally. Me specifically

So look into the Mechagon trinket, that trinket alone, pumped damage into that boss. The Cyclonic Blast trinket, its the access card trinket. Look into that

Got go in that phase with everything up, so you cant kill the first guy with things on cd. After that you pop comsumables, and kite on the edge. Minimize down time for the adds by leaving late, and bursting them down. (I think i talented glaive tempest for extra burst). Did it again a few weeks ago, so it is doable in its current state.

Did you use any special gear? I’m in DF PvP gear and executing the pass/fail mechanics just fine but it’s the DPS check that’s the problem…feels waaay too tightly tuned

just did it with tank raid gear(my stats were haste mast) and did it with unbridled fury, flask of power, and drums. The build I used is BEkACnvaHJn8GSPD6tpaeczPTRSikESJi0SSEJCEAAAAAAAtkEEKRSUCJJphiEESSA

This build was fine for both fights. Like i mentioned earlier You want everything up (trinkets included) Once he’s active, you pop everything and blast. You kite him on the edge, inching him ever so slightly, and when he channels the adds on you, you can squeeze in some extra globals. you vengeful retreat out and maybe a fel rush, adds spawn, slow glaive, glaive tempest, and sigil of flame. then it should only take a blade dance to finish. You can also AoE Stun if they get to close. You want to try and commit eye beams just for the boss because of isolated prey.

Edit* Went ahead and sent a few attempts. Killed him a few times prior, just the video quality was pretty bad when p2 started. i turned down my settings and re-recorded.

Video:

It’s in my tank setup with a ruby shell. The shell didn’t do much, but the windscar did 2.6%(would be higher, but I’m bad and missed a use). Also had two potion embellishments, although it only looked like one worked(the potion lasted 1.5 mins). Hope this helps. Good Luck!

idk man I did it within the first 3 weeks of the original MT release and can’t remember anything about it now. I’m mostly making this comment to flex.

Thanks for this, used your build which synced much better with my mastery set, and also somehow completely forgot about potion of unbridled fury lol killed it in 2 pulls after that

I spent several hours trying this on Havoc and here’s my tip for you:

Do it as an Arms warr. Even if you don’t have a warrior and have to level up one from scratch, it will actually take far less effort than it will for you to continue trying to do it on DH. When I was doing it on my DH, I had to play absolutely perfectly and phase 1 lasted for about 8 or so minutes. And phase 2 for Havoc was impossible, not enough dps even with consumes. Half the platform would be completely covered before I could even get the boss a quarter of the way down. For arms, phase 1 lasted maybe 3 minutes, I could play like complete garbage and it was so forgiving that it didn’t even matter, and phase 2 was reasonably paced that I was able to beat it with a bit of space left on the platform.

If you want the DH mog, do it as Vengeance instead. Havoc is not properly tuned. Some people can get it as Havoc, and that’s good for them, but it is not at all worth the amount of effort as it stands right now as Havoc. It is actually criminally stupid how much easier it is as Arms.

how did you make it through the intermission? i get a constant debuff of 60% slow and dmg tick that kills me in 3 sec

You either kill the adds and heal up or you can see where he goes to on the minimap and double fel rush to him before the slow goes out

random question - is there a way to update that trinket to get closer to 120 ilvl? I haven’t tried it since DF came out, but I did notice it got scaled poorly, and I’m not sure if the damage will be worth.

Double jump + fel rush over the center to get to the shimmer spot as soon as possible. Make use of VR + Blur here as well. It also helps a LOT to talent into Netherwalk so that if you get too low you can pop it + health pot. It helps significantly to run a no-mover SD build, especially during the last phase as you either sacrifice a large amount of damage or risk the add moving and spawning a new puddle.
