Havoc in PVE

I feel there is a HUGE imbalance between Havoc and Vengeance in Shadowlands PVE.
I liked the Havoc playstyle when levelling and doing Legion Chromie time stuff, but in Shadowlands it seems that Havoc is not viable at all. If I pull 2 mobs, let alone 3, they will likely kill me. Taking down an elite is impossible. I also have to wait a long time to regain health and generally feel like a pushover.
Switching to Vengeance however makes me so unkillable that it’s not even funny. I literally went to make coffee when fighting 3 mobs. I can pull a pack of 5 and an elite and slowly kill them while pushing 2-3 buttons. You can get this kind of experience if you walk into a zone that’s 10 levels lower than you in Classic.
I’d prefer to have some middle ground between being a squishy loser and an unstoppable killing machine.
Anyone feels the same?

I play with warmode on and will generally mass pull mobs as havoc just because I can leech so much from the mobs with little to no risk of them ever hurting me, while killing players. Works really well against pallies and tanky specs.

My playstyle is never to really trade blows with my targets and to stay mid range and only get close to gather fury, get a few hits, retreat / unbound chaos through, spin around and eye beam.

Feels more like a mid-range caster who also can shred in melee by dancing around targets.

Vengeance is nice for like if you are trying to kill a world boss with no healers, but I don’t do it often since Havoc works just as well keeping mid-range and is way faster.

Once in some gear you pretty much blink at stuff and it melts/gets one shot in open world… DH is probly one of the best in open world PVE content TBH

idk man i’ve never had this problem with havoc, it was by far the best leveling experience through ToF and i didnt feel like i was getting weaker the more i gear i got like i did with other specs. Havoc is definitely one of those specs that you can pull 6 mobs in, eye beam/glaive tempest and melt everything.

Given that you are ilvl 190 you should be doing okay.

Elites I have no issues with as havoc, and generaly as long as I pull packs in when my AoE stuff is up (chain pulling can be an issue sometime) I pretty much melt through everything and I am currently only ilvl 199.

I didn’t look at your talents, but also make sure you are using the correct ones for open world questing efficiency.

Get more gear and use the correct covenant. I had zero issues when I leveled back when SL launched.

I have been playing a havoc DH since they came out and have never had a problem leveling up.

Havoc is probably the best spec there is for open world content. All of your damage is up front, no wind up. All of your healing is leech, so you literally just hit things harder to live longer.

I suppose if you’re in base level greens it might be difficult. Less gear = less damage = less healing via leech.

just started playing demon hunter, all the leech comes from the talent soul rending, correct?

Yep.

Used to just have some baseline attached to metamorphosis, but no more.

In legion, soul rending actually gave us 100% leech in demon form. It was near impossible to die during meta. Fun times.
