so yeah, I haven’t really given too much thought to pvp talents (for BM) but I check out people who seem to know more than me here … am I off?
w/r/t arena and bgs when I feel like it
I generally use wild protector (10% damage off) beast within (fear immune during BW) and dire basilisk (slow moving damager). I generally like passives, they seem to work and dire basilisk really does a ton of damage. The reasoning doesn’t go much deeper than that.
One might think dire basilisk is no good because it’s slow moving and giant but there’s something about it – people ignore it, frequently. Maybe because it’s so slow, I don’t know. I see some people with that dire-beast-hawk, seems to have more of a tell that one, more easily avoidable. And it’s uptime is quite short, 10 sec vs 30 sec. It’s nice to kite people into the basilisk too.
I see some other people using hi-po trap … I have to say, that does seem like a neat thing. Figure you could put binding shot down and then the trap, I’d guess the people get interupted and then stunned. Haven’t tried it really though.
any other ideas out there?
I don’t play a lot of BM, but I plan to try out their new talents in BGs. Wild Protector will be history as a talent at the start of 9.1.

I play roar of sacrifice and survival tactics pretty much 100% of the time and then switch out wild protector and hi - explosive trap for the 3rd. I mean basilisk is pretty terrible but if you like using it and you’re not trying to be a hero of the horde/alliance or gladiator go for it. There are a few situations I’ll use beast within (war/priest teams) or spider sting too. (Destro lock/boomkin/ele sham) Dragonscale Armoe makes aff locks even more laughable to play against but you don’t really need it bc you can feign the dots every 15 sec with craven.
Pet sac and survival instructs should basically be used 99% of time

that’s interesting thx. I can see wat you are saying about the ones you mention. yeah, very useful. well, maybe that basilisk one is garbo, I guess I’ve just had luck with it, esp with people that try to close range and melee. stun + basilisk/bindingShot + disengage is one situation. The damage is high kind of randomly. but yeah, for more experienced opponents more of an avoidable probably.
