Having trouble with dk resource management

Death knight seems absurdly strong.
Amazing class, just having one problem.

I cant spend runic power and runes fast enough (as frost)
I try to keep at least 3 runes on cd as much as I can, and spend power without capping, however it seems like I can only do one or the other. Maybe its my talent choices?

I have my settings such that I can que a skill 500 milliseconds before my global ends, and as a lifelong rogue with a 1s global its difficult to believe that I’m not hitting buttons fast enough.

Any advice would be of help

(I’m wrecking stuff, it just irks me to not use resources efficiently )

edit: I’m strictly talking about world questing, when I fight something for more than a minute things seem to balance out, is this normal?

Thank you so much guys, its a relief to hear its normal

I assume you are playing obliteration, in which case over capping RP is normal. Just focus on spending runes as they are more valuable. RP is more filler that is used to generate KM during PoF, or to refresh more runes.

Yeah it’s pretty bad. Unholy is so bad without death coil legend and frost rp feels horrible

idk what they did to dks…

Exactly. My DK is the less popular Night Fae. As frost, yeah . . . as mentioned in this quote. Runic Power Spenders for Frost, aka Frost Strike is so . . . . bleh. For my DK in her Death Due window, I could care less about her Runic Power.

Wish there were a few more options for frost . . . . besides Breath of Sindragosa . . .

Also why can’t Death’s Due do Shadowfrost damage . . . . as a Frost DK, it’s sad that I use it solely as a Strength Booster/Sweeping Strikes.

This is perhaps one of the big change from Rogue to a DK. Your Globals will feel much slower unless you have absurd amount of haste.

While trying to keep at least 3 runes is a good habit, along with preventing RP from capping are good habits, there are a couple of things to keep in mind.

  • The best time to use Runic Power at any point is when you have more than 3 Runes recharging.
  • If you’re capped on RP and excessive amount of Runes. Spend runes anyway since they’re more valuable to use. I wrote this before reading Tofurious’ post. >,<

While Shadowfrost Damage sounds nice (via scaling from Mastery), I doubt the nature of this spell is good at this point. I’d rather have ticks applying the debuff/gaining the buff before Shadowfrost.

But I wouldn’t compare Death’s Due to Booster/Sweeping Strikes. A more appropriate comparison would be Havoc from Destruction Warlocks. Remember that Obliterate hits like a truck.

Speaking of Obliterate, Obliteration is fine. RP is still irksome to use but it’s all we can do for now.

I compare it more to Sweeping Strikes than Havoc because the targets need to be in the vicinity of the Death’s Due. It will cause your Obliterate to hit one nearby target, like Sweeping Strikes, except for 100% of the Obliterate damage. With havoc, you can cast it on a target from about any vicinity of your primary target and still be able to connect with your abilities on both targets.

The strength increase is nice, especially with the NF Unity effect.

As much as I wish for Death’s Due to do Shadowfrost, it kind of doesn’t even matter at this point anymore.

I just read what Sweeping Strikes does and I see why you would compare Death’s Due to it.

And you’re unfortunately right about DD being not so relevant after SL. It will always remain an ability that’s good due to artificial reasons.

Well said.
