So I stopped Exp gain and just want to queue for the old classic dungeons and do their quests, and came across “The Heart Of The Mountain” where you have to collect the keys to open the safes to get the item.
I know I’m supposed to run Blackrock Depths- Detention Block or Blackrock depths-Upper City to get the keys and get to the safe.
However, everytime I queue for either one, we do not go to that area? It seems in one we even just jump down straight to the flame boss and last boss and then everyone leaves, nobody wants to do the quests?
Or is it me? I’m I doing something wrong here? I’m sure it’s supposed to be these two dungeons to gain the keys but so confused…
Most users of the dungeon matchmaking system do not care at all about questing. They’re powerleveling in dungeons, and the maximum yield of XP/hour is queueing up for a random and skipping as much as possible to get to (and through) the end boss.
The big XP payoff is competing the dungeon. Everything else is, at best, irrelevant. At worst, an impediment to leveling up as fast as possible.
You will almost certainly never get a LFG dungeon group which will support your goal of completing a dungeon quest, especially one that requires farming trash and bosses all over a sprawling dungeon.
You’ll need to find a guild or community which will choose to help you do this.
Thank you for the quick reply! Seems about right and that sucks, but thank you anyways!

If you want to get the quest done for completion sake, you can turn off Chromie Time temporarily to solo it. (As long as the character is at least 35.) It’s a fun dungeon to just explore at your leisure, so it can be a fun to do solo.
Blackrock Depths has a bit of a reputation among old WoW players. See it used to be a mega dungeon, and was a big part of the Onyxia attunement quest. And it did legitimately take a couple of hours to complete and that was without screwing up and wiping.
Now there are just as many who love it as hate it compared to say Gnomergan, which I don’t think I’ve ever met a single person who has a fond memory of that place, but doing the quests is generally a low priority for dungeons on a good day but in one as segmented and non-linear as Blackrock Depths, they’re actively slowing the experience down.
So yeah, uh, gonna need to find a group of like minded souls or solo it later.
