Having to switch between static and dynamic flight is a pain in the back side!

Unfortunately, it will not be an option for you to have 3 separate mounts on your action bar! All static mounts that can not do dynamic flight will be grounded in Dynamic flight mode! So you can’t just select a static flight mount to switch to static like you can now! To static fly you will have to switch to static flight, then all mounts even dragons will be static flight so you can just select a dragon in static flight to do dynamic! That combined with the hassle of a 5-second cast to switch is what is causing all of the consternation! I would much rather have them level things as they are currently.

Just to be clear about the history, the playerbase was fully aware there was no flying in WoD before it launched.

I’m not saying the marketing department put advertisements out for a grounded expansion, but the forums were already erupting with feedback on the news before launch. It was a known situation.

The news broke on The Instance podcast on an episode they recorded in front of a small audience at a hotel during that Blizzcon. (2013 was it?). Ghostcrawler was a guest and spilled the beans, and then it was picked up very quickly by the community and the usual news sites.

Hmmm…so are you saying that only one mount type may be added to an action bar?? I could understand if only the Dynamic mount type can be used via the action bar when the toggle is set for Skyriding, but to say that a static flying mount (and/or one of the perpetually grounded mount types) cannot be added to an action bar when toggled for Skyriding boggles my mind.

you can add as many mounts to your bar as you want, but just selecting one over the other will not change the flight style! The only way to change flight styles is to cast the switch to either Dynamic or Static as ALL flying mounts that can change will be one or the other style all of the time until you switch flight styles! Any ONLY static flight mount will become a ground mount while in Dynamic mode!

Keep it as is now. Keep some old mounts static flight permanently.

Gotcha…thanks. So, for me, an action bar will most likely include a dynamic/static mount type, an always grounded mount type, and the Switch Flight Style toggle. It’s kind of how I do it now as it feels weird to use a current dragon riding mount whilst in a dungeon or to just run on the ground in general.

I mean, they pretty much have dropped “pathfinder” in all but name only.

There is a huge difference between needing to wait months for a major patch zone and then to complete that content in addition to the launch content, and farm a bunch of rep from each faction vs what they are doing in War Within.

War Within is much much closer to the old “hit max level and buy flying”. You can probably complete the campaign in the first day or so while you level.

They might call this “Pathfinder” but they shouldn’t because there is no comparison to what that word used to represent.

Remember “Patchfinder”?? What they’re doing in TWW is not that.

You won’t have any static mounts if you are in Dynamic flight mode! Any mounts that can only do static flight will be ground mounts while you are in Dynamic mode you will have only ground mounts and Dynamic mounts in Dynamic mode! Any Dynamic mounts like a Dragon mount will become a static-only mount in Static Flight mode, you will not have ANY Dynamic mounts in static mode you will have only Ground mounts and Static mounts in static mode! ALL flying mounts will be either all Dynamic flight or all Static flight all of the time. Granted they are making a large number of what are currently static-only mounts able to switch, but it will still be all one kind of flying or the other you will not be able to simply select a static mount or a dynamic mount to use.

Not just that the anger was from some 10 years ago, Blizzard relented and now we have a new and improved modern flying with momentum mechanics and abilities, and we can fly from day 1.

They relented. Flying fans won the battle. But the anger remains.

The static flight mount will not be static flight if you have dynamic enabled.

I would MUCH rather them leave flight as it is now than muck it up like they are doing in this coming expansion

The anger remains because the system right now is perfect. Dragonriding to haul across large swaths of zone map and static to do smaller quest areas. And they are taking it from us. It’s absurdity.

They are not taking it from us just making it a hassle to switch from one style to another needlessly and adding a pathfinder to get basic flying back AGAIN!

If anything, the very short delay in access to TBC flying is an annoyance, not something to be viscerally angry about.

I’m not defending that delay, as I have stated in other posts, I can only speculate what their thought process is, but I don’t think it warrants the current reaction here on the forums.

Nor do I think it’s reasonable for people to still be upset about how flying was handled in WoD, especially because Blizzard caved to enormous pressure and we now have flying day 1, new flying mechanics, new flying content, zones designed for flying, dungeons with flying etc.

As you are only one person you can not say that the delay is nothing to be angry about! To your sensibilities it is nothing to another it may be a very large issue and you just don’t understand their point of view!

I absolutely can say whatever I want, I am allowed to have opinions just like you can.

We’re just talking here. That’s it.

Ion and crew evidently were hired to create hassles in game.
Didnt I read someone, somewhere said something to the extent that the game SHOULD be a miserable hassle…using different words, though? lol.

they make it a hassle so we dont want to swap at all, to keep those on DRing mounts on them…and those using old flight where they are too.
Theres literally no other reason they’d bother with this 5 second crap.
No one is gonna keep swapping back and forth once this is live. Precisely the point of it.

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion! You are not able to proclaim that someone else’s opinion is not something to be angry about; like you just did!

no…some here are trolling for attention, as usual for this forum.
If this issue doesnt affect a person they COULD just voice an opinion and leave it.
But instead they continue to make pointless, baiting posts to get a rise from others for attentions sake…
its VERY easy to figure them out about the second or third post they make

see my post above…
