If the goal is for either ability to be used similarly to retribution paladins 30 second ashes that could be cool, but personally spamming blackout kick in between abilities might not be that satisfying without whirling dragon punch’s cooldown. What do you think?
I think they should put ashes on a 2 minute CD and then classes could be judged on their own instead of being compared to the most stupid baby spec that has ever been in the game.
But also, WW needed pruning and those 2 abilities are very similar. It makes sense for it to be a choice node. I’ll just take dragon punch because it’s more fun and adds more dynamic gameplay.
Eh… pruning wasn’t really needed in terms of abilities. Talent tree could be pruned/optimized significantly better though. Looking at some of the “new” stuff Blizz added, it’s disappointing and unsurprising to see bloat/filler added.
WDP and SotWL are only similar now because SotWL got super watered down. SotWL went from city block leveling AoE with little fluff added to broken down into two abilities and like 3 support talents.
suggesting it needs pruning after commenting on the comparison between rets wake of ashes talent and the changes to ww first is pretty funny, but I guess some people really feel there are too many buttons to press that’s ok, or don’t want to put in the time to learn to combo strike and press cooldowns, it was awesome in legion and its awesome right now if it wasn’t target capped everyone would be playing it, I feel like making moving through the SEF/Xuen burst easier would solve all problems, so then people could just learn to combo strike after pressing those buttons how it is now, maybe it’s really that simple
I think they did this with these two before and people didn’t like it and here they are repeating it again so people will have to wait to next expac to see it fixed. This is why i’m burning out on wow cause of trash choices like this and i can’t invest myself in a class cause they keep having some grand idea of a rework.

Honestly the same here. i had to take a break and went to swtor for a bit, but maybe they will balance it right who knows
I dont like either of these abilities but ill trade taking both for deleting Slicing winds and ever having to cast CJL again.
Dropping SEF, Emp cap and Slicing winds would have been enough. They could have left the other two how thet where.
This and removal of SEF is all I really want. Doubling down on SW and adding it to the conduit tree is so bad.
That spell breaks up the pace of the class SO MUCH. I
It doesn’t work right most of the time and because it loves to not work right there is a high risk of it killing you. Also it removes a great mobility tool.
Maybe if empowered abilities actually worked exactly how they are supposed to every single time I would be ok with it but currently no its not even close.
Not a huge fan of this either, just means one less button to keep combo strikes going which means we are going to be spamming other abilities more.
Would be better if they made SOTWL a choice node with Slicing Winds instead of WDP and not have SOTWL/Slicing replace FSK
that’s a great idea and I think that would make a lot of people happy too! it makes way more sense to choose between SOTWL and slicing winds!
edit: if they have to cut an ability choosing between the two you suggested is actually a great idea
