Having races be locked out of certain classes is a good thing

just going to say something about this specifically. ill ignore everything else and focus on this. you have never met someone who has said that because its not nobody. i had friends back in bc who wanted to make 1 as a warlock.

You had friends with 0 experience of WoW whatsoever that wanted to play a Draenei warlock specifically?

How, praytell, would they possibly know what a warlock is or does with 0 WoW experience, let alone that they wanted to play it specifically with a draenei?

Somebody comes from DnD and wants to play a concept like a Tiefling Warlock or Necromancer or something is apparently something that does not exist.

I would like to see every race getting updated but humans and elves, so they get played more often.

I mean… I doubt everyone would go most blood elf and void elf… but I do agree with the overall point, it’s just logical and makes more sense… like a tauren rogue sounds idiotic.

People can play generic stuff, not stuff that’s supposed to exist in literally single digits.

I wanna play belf druids. LETS GOOO.

Do you have anecdotal evidence of this actually happening, or is this more of a “well this person might exist” situation?

Fair enough either way, but one might expect a DnD player to be somewhat more sensitive to the established lore of a fantasy world than the average person for the same reason that many parties wouldnt want someone joining if they insisted their character was a Luchador.

In that example, would the persons desire for freedom to be a luchador in character supercede the rest of the group’s desire to preserve continuity of their fantasy world? In my submission, it does not.

THIS!!

Same people who rant “WhO cArEs!?” are usually the same who;

  • Don’t care about the lore.
  • Don’t really care about the long-term success of the game.
  • Usually cater to their flavour of the month feed.
  • More times than not, happen to be narcists.

Also – Whoa!
Jeeze, I didn’t realise there was such a huge necro upon this thread.
Anyway, all in all - even lore aside: I agree with the OP.

I still want a gnome druid

Honestly, we’re like awkward outliers to the entire story, even our faction. Our characters are so goofy at times it would make sense for them to be free spirits in all regards.

We already have (I think the metric is) 99.99% of players on Elves (who have most classes anyway), it’s not gonna hurt to loosen up every other race.
I like Classic keeping restrictions but Retail is the worst fanfiction of all time, Mechagnome Druid robo-cats could only help at this point (please)

the whole point is to have people play the race/class combo they want not try and add some restrictions to 4 races

who said i had friends with 0 wow experience? bc was the first expansion it wasnt day 1 of the game…they saw draenei as a race they wanted to play but like warlocks and didnt want to have to level a new class and learn how to play a new class because they enjoyed warlocks. how was that so hard to understand from what i said you had to add words that werent said

I’m sorry, my friend, but I don’t believe you are actually following this conversation.

probably not since its been pretty dumb. we have reached the point that its happening whether you like it or not so you might as well start working on figuring out how to deal with it

So you have no actual counter argument. You just want what you want and it seems like Blizz is going to do that, so now you want to rub people’s nose in it, even if it doesn’t make sense.

This, lady and gentleman, is the type of player that wants these changes in game, and it is my submission the game shouldn’t be changed to cater to them of all people.

actually i have explained why many times in other posts. i dont need to explain myself for the umteenth time. having classes locked to races for your reasons are the exact same as being against adding back items in the game that you cant get anymore because then i wont feel special for having it. the lor is the dumbest arguement to use considering blizzard has changed it all the time to suit their needs. your telling me a tauren rogue break the game for you but a gnome warrior doesnt? class/race restrictions were dumb in vanilla and after almost 20 years its even more dumb. the races have been around eachother long enough that enough people would have learned classes they didnt originally have access to the same way culture exchange happens. the restrictions havent stoped people from playing the races they want as your arguement says that horde would go blood elf and alliance void elf more so your main point against it sounds more like you crying that people are playing what they like and not what you like and how you want it. your arguement seems the same as people against flying. just people arent playing the game the way i want them to and are having fun different from me and it angers me. unless the druid forms for a blood elf/ void elf were over the top unlocking them for all races wouldnt change the fact that i would have either a dwarf or a undead druid and a undead pally.

I sometimes feel guilty when reading stuff about class/race lock unfairness for other players because I got what I wanted. The Orc Mage ! In PVE and PVP we got the best combo rotation of adding rage to increase the power of our spells for a few seconds and our water elementals, being a pet, did more damage than other races elementals. Despite of all that what we brought to the WAR Table the community hated our guts. “It’s not in the lore” they cried and fussed about how stupid it was because Orcs are a shaman type of race and too stupid to learn magic.

We have a warlock follower in Legion that uses the maghar skin model. Mostly for the skin tones. Most other warlocks in other classes are not effected by fel. So Maghar don’t need to be as corrupted as orcs to be warlocks like any other race.

The fel orcs just have fel infused blood corruption.
