Sooo Im a returning player who hasn’t played since Wrath. I have no idea what my old password was and no longer have access to the hotmail account it was set up on lol. Blizzard couldn’t/wouldn’t help me recover it with out knowing my old “battle tag” and “purchase ID#s”. I gave them my full legal name, old account name, old character names and screen shots of my characters but none of that worked. So i created a new BattleNet account just play the Classic Fresh. Some genius dev thought it would be a great idea to force all New or Returning players to play without being able to trade or use the auction house. Every time I try to to trade with a player or use the auction it house it says “That action is restricted”. I was literally trying to give a tailor Wool Cloth to make me some Woolen Bags, but nope that action is restricted. So hey Ill just go buy some off the auction house, but nope that action is also restricted. They go out of their way to hype up the 30th anniversary classic launch and then force you to play SSF without making it public. I had to dig through the forums to find this quote from the devs.
"If you are new to World of Warcraft, you will not be able to give gold or give items to other players for the first month of paid play. You can confirm the date of your first game time order in your [Transaction History]. Game time from WoW Tokens does not count to lift this restriction.
While you cannot give gold or items, the following actions are possible:
You can receive gold and items from friends or guild mates (for free)
You can sell items on the Auction House
If you would like to buy something from another player, you will not be able to pay with gold nor give them a different item in exchange.
Customer Support does not assist with lifting these restrictions."
This is completely stupid and only bothers real players. Ironically I can still get money and items through the mail system, so I could still RTM for gold and have someone mail it to me. I can still sell stuff on the auction house, I just cant buy stuff. I can still get things from my friends and guildies, but I cant give trade anything or buy anything from the AH. I cant even mail stuff to a different character on my account! Why would a new bot account be the one buying items off the AH. Why would a new account be the one sending items of value through the mail system? Why would this apply to a fresh server where everyone is starting out at lvl 1? This is literally the stupidest and most ineffective way to incentivize new players to try our classic WoW after all the hype and build up…
That doesn’t really seem that bad. I thought you couldn’t use the AH at all.
I guess you’re correct to complain and say you don’t like what you don’t like. I personally don’t like this restriction and would also complain about it.
Having said that though, I think you have to make the choice to decide whether it’s worth playing or quitting as a result. I don’t tend to buy a lot of things from the AH or other players, esp. while I’m newly leveling on a fresh realm, so for my playstyle, I don’t think this would be a major issue, but of course, I haven’t made a new BNet account that has no payments on it for the past 5+ years (or whatever the length is that is required at the moment).
I think that there was a similar type of restriction when I did make a new account some time during Legion, but I was able to bypass it by making a store purchase - I think it was something like buying a store mount or something that worked for me then. I’m not aware of any such similar way to bypass this restriction now, or even if my memory isn’t quite accurate about the issue then.
Yeah, it might just well be. Do the same restrictions apply to Retail?
Better to sanction all guilty parties at the expense of an innocent than to allow a single guilty party escape sanctioning in order to save all innocents…
Unless you happen to be that sole innocent…
You know who employed this point of view historically?
Totalitarian/authoritarian regimes.
So what’s my point?
The company, in its infinite wisdom, is using methods that totalitarian regimes used to maintain power.
Just a point a view.
I’m not the one complaining and asking to do something about them. Not saying you are saying that in general; but then again, I haven’t gone through your post history regarding this issue.
I’m in the same situation then you. I lost acces to my old Email so I had to open a new account, I paid and play D4 with it… BUT I can’t have a full acces to WoW classic event after i paid for it. I would understand like 3 to 5 day … bloody hell event 2 weeks… but a full month ? that my whole subcrition !
nah. just CC that you lose, get stolen or cancel
LOLOL
people are so out of touch. some times people use 1 time cards from the store… charge cards or something.
Like i just upgraded one of my cc and it’s a different account and everything.
just dont fing restrict people in the game unless there’s proof they’re a bot
they’re ruining idk how many peoples experience in the game.
most people i talk to in game are restricted. when we get to raiding most people will literally be f’d and unable to raid because they don’t have the ish they need.
this isn’t about the world this is about dumb ish in the game taht could be preveneted
Well, you neglected your account for that many years, you’re an outsider now, no one knows for sure if you created a new account legitmately or for botting so that procedure was added.
Just to add closure to this post… after about a week my account was “unlocked” and I was able to freely trade and use the auction house. Not sure if the devs changed their minds on new account restrictions for the anniversary realms or what but I did not have to wait the full 30 days as initially indicated on the forum!
