Yes I heard they were called blood elves and void elves also. They sorta split up for reasons but still called high elves

There was an item in Oblivion that you could obtain and subsequently “reverse” pickpocket into an NPC’s inventory. When it came time for that NPC to eat, they would consume the apple and die.

The literal first defining moment of the Blood Elf identity is them declaring they are “No longer High Elves!”
It would literally be an insult in univers to call a Blood Elf a High Elf.
