Have you been to the Classic Forum?

I was surprised honestly at the amount of vitriol there. They refer to us in GD as "BFA losers" or "retail losers". When they speak of retail or BfA it is said as an insult as in "Go back to your retail WoW crybaby".

I am a bit surprised, but not completely.

I am interested in Classic, but for the fun aspect. Retail WoW will always be where my heart is.
I mean, they have a disease that makes them think Classic is superior, so how angry can we be about their outbursts really?
Its disgusting over there right now. I made a RATIONAL post about sharding (basically saying its a last resort and will only affect starting zones for a few weeks at most) and they refuse to listen to anything that doesnt fit their echo chamber.
I miss some of the Classic WoW also, but they have made it their altar to die on. Elune help you if you disagree with them on something.

Do you have a source for your RATIONAL post? Because I haven’t seen a blue post confirming anything you just said...

Edit: and to be clear, I'm looking for an OFFICIAL source confirming:

1. Sharding will only be used as a last resort
2. Sharding will only affect starting zones
3. Sharding will only be used for a few weeks at most

Because otherwise you are just making things up, and it is no surprise to me that you are being taken to task for spreading misinformation.
Although I think classic wasn't a good idea, I don't go over to the forum and taunt them about it. However a lot of people do and try to tell them it's all nostalgic and they will hate it etc. I image that gets annoying, and causes the cycle of hate/spite/whatever you want to call it to go back and forth.

The source is common sense. Live doesn't have sharding all the time, classic wouldn't either.
I just avoid their forums, and report the threads they create here to troll us on classic to be moved back to the classic forums.

Not hard to do a quick search for this kind of thing
The biggest problem I'm concerned with in classic s the community schism that has taken place. I feel like people think it's impossible to enjoy both versions of the game and I have been attacked personally for saying so many many times.

If this mentality doesn't change then I would look at this as the biggest challenge facing the game. People are talking about design decisions but that's nothing compared to how much damage a disruptive community can create.

Do your best to engage these players with kindness and help them see both sides. If we don't, they never will, I fear.
Tack on a $15 charge to allow them to play Classic servers and they'll shut right up.
They in for a big surprise. Classic WoW was amazing for its time, in 2004. Now? It would die very quickly if it was released in 2018.

I project a billion players day one, and 25 after a month.
The 2018 game just isn't designed as a game. It's a slot machine, there are game elements, like mythic raiding or the mythic dungeon and pvp ladder, but the rest is gambling your time.

GD is filled with people wanting the slot machine to pay out more often.

Classic is about a slow burn of rewarding effort over random luck. The game play systems are lackluster, but the progression is real. The dedicated have something to show for their time over how it is recently in the current game where effort is often outshined by luck and casuals want the dedicated players to carry them to rewards.

It's easy to see why there is vitriol, the 2 ideologies are incompatible.
I will play on classic and retail. How about that? Plenty of time to play on the classic server when BFA loses steam.

The funny part is that the thing I miss the most about classic is the community. If these are the types of people who will be filling the servers... well... they've/we've missed the mark not Blizzard.

There are literal thousands who play illegal classic realms.
actually, that disease is pretty common throughout the forums.

and the internet.

makes me a little nostalgic for the times when the only people who talked like that either could back it up, or get taught a valuable lesson on who could be classed a 'tough guy'
What amuses me is they go on and on and on about how awesome the community was and then when you see them in action it shows their true colors.

Because it's free to them.
People were moaning about how tuning wasn't done in the demo, and that it ruined the entirety of classic for them.
