Have we ever seen music as a magic power? Bard magic?

Does anyone know of moments in lore where music is used as a source of magic? I’m talking about confirmed cases, not legends or rumors, but something POV seen firsthand.

The only examples I can think of now are the song of the sirens and the druids of the flame buffing Fyrakk axe. They call the voice of Azeroth Radiant Song, but whenever we hear it, she speaks, not sings.

Orc priests sing their healing magic.

More specifically, the Naaru and their magic are sometimes described in musical terms, and the Lok’osh priests who derive their teaching from Oshu’gun inherit this concept by describing the Light as the “Song of the Heart.”

This all seems more like metaphor than actual, literal music, though.

The Warsong clan are known to sing and chant as they fight. With warrior types in-universe capable of magic on some level, I’m sure this singing in some way constitutes an incantation that channels magic, even if they’re not fully cognizant of it.

No.

There are times characters and/or magic are described in musical terms (such as what Gavik referenced). But music is not credited as the source.

There is magic rituals that are performed involving singing. But we don’t know if the singing has any connection to the magic, or if it is just something like tradition.

There has never been and confirmed cases of actual magic being directly tied to music. Until (and IF) we get a class specifically using music as magic it probably wont be. Blizzard doesn’t give much actual info on what is required for magic unless it is directly tied to a story beat.

You can theorize about possible music magic. And there are possibilities. But for the time being, there are no actual established examples of magic requiring music/song.

There’s a Priest spell called “Divine Hymm”

Fortunately not. Priest spells are just prayers.

Otherwise, the final cinematic of the trilogy would probably end with Anduin, Alleria, Faerin, and a kobold from the Ringing Deeps defeating xal’atath with a soft rock ballad about friendship and teamwork.

Priests having songs doesn’t mean all heals are songs.

He is a manifestation of sound.

Troll war drums, they were shown to help one of the rituals to put them in a frenzy or perform a summoning. Even there was a artifact that they use their own skin to make a drum, so if they die, their spirits become part of the drum set.

Now THAAAT’S a long callback.

Music has been shown to be a tool of manipulting magic, but not the source of it.
