I actually think it’s a great feature, although it could use some more limitations imo.
But does this create a problem for future content and zones? Having to make every new zone a specific size to cater to the speeds of DR? Are we going to see a lot more open unused spaces like in the azure span?
I think spaces between content and POI is important for mmo gameplay. When you zoom up into the air and hop from quest mob to quest mob it kills the illusion of a bigger world. It would seem this is a common talking point when it comes to an immersive open world experience. Flying and fast travel has already made a larger world seem smaller and DR would just exacerbate the problem.

What do you mean by “use some more limitations?”
You want limitations? I’m out of this mess…
Northrend would be/have been great for DRing… seemed like it took forever to “normal” fly places.

Personally I wish flying would have some kinda cooldown and space out the time between using flying and traveling on ground. This could be easier with DR
If you mean “is it gonna be lame going 830% in eastern kingdoms or anywhere really that isn’t built for it,” then yes, yes it will.
I don’t think they can keep it around for that fact alone. It’s too fast, which causes them to stretch terrain because time played, making it suck to travel any other way. I was fine on the ground through all the pathfinder expansions. Ground travel does not feel like a reasonable option in DF, so I grudgingly use the dragon.
I don’t want every new terrain until the end of time to need to cater to this dragon flight, is my thesis.

I disagree, flying should never be limited in that way, there are enough cooldowns and gates in the game as is
When I’m traveling from point A to point B, I don’t like having to stop and wade through irrelevant mobs.
I like big open spaces. I like fast travel. I do not need to feel like I’m taking a flightpath timeout every time I want to reach my next objective.
The “big world” experience only makes sense if I’m not actually needing to travel very often, when the journey is a journey. When my open world endgame todo list involves visiting villages on opposite ends of the continent and complete tiny packets of content scattered across the whole map, I don’t actually want it to feel gigantic and time-consuming.

So you want a remake that invalidates all the ground mounts everywhere? Personally I’ll pass on that. Not the remake part, I’m down for a remake, just not catered to DF.

people will start complaining when x zone in the old world is cleared in less than 8 seconds and lose the feel of the normal flying
Damn, I just asked a question bro-ski.
The genie has been out of the bottle on this for quite a while. They tried to ratchet back flying in WoD and the player base overall was not pleased, and it’s a sore spot that continues to this day.
I hate to beat a dead horse, but if you’re looking for this type of immersion, you’ll have to go back to classic, as I really don’t see any chance at retail ever reverting to this state again.
So I want to make sure I am on the same page.
We are saying that now WoW may be more inclined to make larger zones is a bad thing?
And that traveling quickly through old zones is a bad thing?
Because those seem to be the “problems” listed.
Welll wouldn’t you think that delaying the time between completing things decrease the rate at which boredom occurs? I mean by maybe putting something good in between like an immersive experience. We all wanna get to the climax of whatever fun thing we are doing but its all about the little nuances between the beginning and the climax that make the climax better…imo
I dont make the rules I just made a thread
But dragonriding has nothing to do with anything stated here.
The great thing is that you can self-impose that limitation without bothering anyone else.

Ya i am playing classic currently. Unfortunately you may be right.
Hordehunter; I hate to come off with such a nasty remark off the bat but …WTF are you talking about and why…?
No one who plays retail and has played it since launch or at least BC EVER wants to go back to a permanent state where we can’t fly. Flying is faster and more efficient. A lot of WoW players are/have been “Older” than teenagers and we have lives and responsibilties but still want to play. Respect our time. Surely there’s a way to do that and still develop a riveting world. Dragonflight has this already.
A lot of us already have an issue with the whole “patfhinder” BS they introduced. Flying should never have had to be a compromise to begin with.
If they dont want content consumed in such a short amount of time, here’s a NOVEL idea…DEVELOP …MORE…CONTENT and while you’re at it, develop in more than just 2-dimensions so the world isn’t “made smaller” by flying. Please stop making excuses for this lazy mindset.
