Have rotations become too complicated for most classes?

Or is it just me? …

I’ve been playing a long time and was looking around to maybe try an alt but man, some opening rotations are insanely complicated. Does anyone else feel this way?

Some classes I’ve tried recently (to try to pick an alt):
Fire Mage, Arcane Mage, Ele Shaman, Balance Druid and a few others…

Not a great feeling and a turn off to playing classes you’re not familiar with.

I wouldn’t say rotations are complicated but there are a lot of abilities I’ll use maybe once or twice in certain content and that’s it, so it definitely feels like they’re taking up space. Compare my Holy Priest hotbars to my MW Monk hotbars I have three full rows of actual abilities on my priest not counting things like consumables and keybinds whereas my monk I use maybe half of the three hotbars.

I dont think rotations have become too complicated. Although some specs have kinda unfun maintenance buffs i wish would go. I.e. slice and dice, barbed shot. What i think has become too complicated is mechanics that cause me to constantly move so that i hardly ever can experience my rotation lol

Enh Shaman, Arcane Mage, and Shadow Priest are ridiculous and the reason I quit retail.

I might come back and try frost mage but I am kind of over it to be honest. Kind of pumped for D4.

I came from Final Fantasy 14… WoW rotations are very much so NOT complicated lol

More like needlessly redundant. In lieu of complicated.

5 buttons to do a basic DPS spell is some over 9000 levels of shenanigans imo.

Having more unique and situational spells. Or alternative rotations would be much more interesting.

I just think rotations are bloated again for most classes. The newer or most recently redesigned specs don’t have this issue.

Tried to play my shaman again and got a headache trying to make comfortable room for all the buttons. Decided it wasn’t worth it this expansion.

I’d say some specs have more cumbersome rotations than others, stemming from a combination of the new talent trees plus class designers that apparently don’t play the game.

I don’t think they are too complicated I just feel like the barrier of entry is too high.

I can agree with you there but I still love FFXIV. I’m saving Shadowbringers and Endwalker for the 7.0 graphic update.

I was really enjoying affliction awhile back. The class fantasy of shadow priest is just so good though.

Compared to BFA shadow priest plays like smooth butter. Even though I really did enjoy the way voidform got so crazy in BFA. Too bad its just so hard to balance.

FF14 rotations are braindead. So braindead that people try to squeeze in a global instead of turning to avoid a snake blind in server feedback delay.

No things are just getting back to when they were at their best.

I almost cried when trying out RestoSham again and all of a sudden “your main healing stuff is now riptide, not healing wave like it’s been till now since classic, sorry, but relearn how to play healing as shaman, k thnx, bye”

It’s really frustrating, kinda like when Earth Shield was turned into a pvp only talent at the start of legion despite being a kind of ‘bread and butter’ core thing for restosham to make healing people other than the tank a bit less stressful

They’re also getting the same problem of rotations being bloated for the sake of being bloated. Also the 2 minute meta over there is causing all the classes to feel more samey than they already did.
