Have Molten Front port, but it does nothing

This is an issue I have had for literally years now… periodically I look around for an answer, don’t find one, then give up. I once even opened a ticket, and they said they wouldn’t help me.

I have the “Portal to the Firelands” portal that is supposed to port you to the Molten Front unlocked. I did all the quests to unlock it, and remember using it to go to the Molten Front years ago.

But today, or one year ago, or two years ago, or three years ago, any time I go to the portal and click it (it gives a cogwheel tooltip like something you are supposed to click when hovered over), it just does nothing. Walking thru it also does nothing. It is just there, and un-interactable, I believe since MoP? Surely from WoD launch on.

Does anybody have any information on this? Over the years I have dedicated far too much time looking to some resolution to this, there are just no answers, no clear way to proceed, and the best I get with opening a ticket is a massive amount of time wasted to get back a “go search online” response, which I have tried over and over again

ah, apparently a bit south, at the Sanctuary of Malorne, there were some quests in a chain that seem like they are part of this. i am assuming they will unlock this portal for me

it is just odd, having a portal that seems interactable, but you can’t get into it. and so few are in this position of having done enough of the quest chain to create the portal, but not enough to make it function, that the answer is very hard if not impossible to find online

Yes, you have to complete some quests at the Sanctuary of Malorne to initially open the Molten Front.

I completed the whole zone and could not interact with the Molten Front portal on my new toon. I apparently missed a quest called “Opening the Door” from Matoclaw at the Sanctuary of Malorne. It led me on a short quest chain that ended with “The Sanctuary Must Not Fall”.

I don’t recall if there’s another quest in between but you should soon get a quest called “Calling for Reinforcements” which requires you to collect Marks of the World Tree. You’ll need 20 total and I had about 16 from just doing the quest prior, I then just picked up the remaining “Daily” quests and that gave me enough Marks of the World Tree to continue with the remainder of the quest chain. After turning in the quest “Leyara” I was able to go though the Molten Front portal.

I see you most likely found the quests but just wanted to share a few of the quest names in case you’re still having trouble or if someone else find their way to your post.

So I have a toon that has completed the quests, and I am on the quest for collecting marks. Currently 16/20. But I can’t use the portal. I have the cogwheel as well, but it isn’t interactable. :frowning:

I tried reinstalling my game, playing with no addons and I tried with different characters. Even ones that have been in the zone multiple times. Really frustrated since I wanted to go back in for some hunter pets…
