been asking this for eons, thing that gets me is, certain ncps have this, and during the tavern crawl mini event one of the captain hats lets your hair hang down , looks so much better but only lasts 4 hours, so we know they have done it, so why the resistance towards the players having this, all i can think of is cheapness, save a penny just to use the default skinhead.

I never really noticed or cared much before, but after playing FFXIV then coming back to WoW, I can’t stand the fact that hats remove hair in this game. 
Final Fantasy does hat hair so well…

The one thing I don’t like in FFXIV, and it’s the same in WoW, is hoods. Hoods need a little hair. Never fully put together why they bother me so much until we saw more of the Windrunners in their glorious hoods and hair. How hard would it be to add a hair texture that maps to the characters chosen hair color?

I recently unlocked the Kul Tiran heritage set and to my surprise they have their full hair under the hat. Too bad the race itself is too terrible to play as.

There is already some headwear that allow for this so it shouldn’t be impossible. Sadly thou, those headwear’s typically have clipping problems.
The solution here is to give each hairstyle a “hat version” when tucked into a hat or helmet. Resonable, several hairstyles could share the same hatversion so it would be less work than to give each hairstyle their own appearance under a headwear.

Yeah I hate that my hair almost vanishes if I wear a hat of some kind.

Right? I got a bit excited last night with the pirate patch confirmation, freehold in the background, and thought “I’ll put my toons in pirate uniforms”
But then every single pirate hat in game makes my character bald.
It makes me sad.

Honestly wish they just had a little context button in the character screen for show/hide hair. Less work than remodeling a bunch of old hats or making new ones.
