Hats up to Monk Devs

Whilst some people have their gripes, myself included with them introducing soom to the class tree, ultimately from a Mistweaver perspective, and the little I’ve seen of the other two specs, they actually popped off proper hard this time, giving you good trees, connections, and even options between situations.

So Honestly I tip my hat off to you, Monk Devs.

It was better than I ever expected.

Yeah im hoping for very little change. Might off spec main MW and Brew finally feels like its finally rounded out versus what it is currently

It is definitely a good skill tree! I appreciate the effort to make monks as fun as pre-legion <3
It still need changes for sure, specially the general monk tree.

I was pleasantly surprised as well. I really thought our trees were gonna be a mess.

i was entirely surprised that the monk trees turned out the way they did
the general tree is good and im hearing nothing but good things about the specs I don’t play
ww’s tree looks absolutely amazing

Agree. Instant vivify may actually fix the negative perception of MWs for higher M+ keys, not to mention pvp

Agreed. I was surprised at first but it’s one of
Those things where the more you look at it the more it starts to make sense.

I could do with a little less shadowlands in my dragon flight but I don’t have to take those talents I suppose

Save for a few items that could be swapped or combined, it’s pretty solid at the moment. Looking forward to seeing what those under construction talents are! (Hopefully this week!)

From a Mistweaver perspective I think it’s honestly overall a great tree(s) for PvE. Unfortunately, PvP players like myself are still getting shafted.

Yea. Instant vivifies are pretty much the highlight for us PvPers. We still need utility.

I think we have all the utility we need (Spear Hand Strike, Disable, 30 Sec Para, RoP, Dampen/Diffuse). What we’re lacking is a meaningful outlet of Fistweaving heals (as applicable to PvP). As of now you gotta Essence Font to procc it (any PvPer knows why/how terrible Essence Font is in PvP), and it only heals ONE target in a 20 yd range. Also, Chiji is a meme of an ability… just give us back real Way of the Crane.

I don’t pvp, but I can see how some of the concerns are valid.

Still, I agree with the general feeling that the trees (specially talking as a MW) are nice and I’m looking forward trying them out.

Not a chance. Our issue in m+ is a lack of damage and revival sucking in 5 man content. An instant cast vivify isn’t going to change a thing when it comes to m+

The healer damage balances out for the most part when you drop covenant abilities/cov legos/etc. The bigger issue (especially in s3/s4) is surviving mechanics.

Revival doesn’t suck in 5 man content. It’s a MD and it procs Gusts now and is a legitimate CD when used properly.

This was an issue in certain dungeons/certian bosses. Outside of CDs MW had no significant healing while on the move. Vivify being instant will make MW more fluid as a whole as it’s less disruptive, as well as allow us to heal while on the move for a bunch of M+ encounters.

Unsure why you think it won’t change a thing in M+ because this single-handedly makes MW significantly more fun and efficient.

MW is still on the lower end of damage without these.

It does suck when compared to other healer’s cooldowns. It doesn’t compare at all to Devo Aura, Barrier, Tranquility, Spirit Link, Apotheosis, and other cooldowns. It is a meh cooldown in 5 man content. The MD is nice, but if you are running with a good group that interrupts properly, then it is really only useful for bursting stacks. Every other healer CD offers DR, health distribution, or more throughput than revival in 5 man content. The only unique thing about it is the MD and why care about that when you can bring a priest that has MD with superior cooldowns.

Yeah that is nice and all but it is not some amazing change that is going to make Mistweavers instantly better than most other healers.

They are not. Our left side tree does massive damage.

More total healing over a much longer time period… Tranq? We takes 8 seconds to finish its channel while revival is 1 gcd (which without haste is 1.5 seconds)
DR is cool and all but if you’re not taking 100% or more of your health in damage then its just less than revival’s healing… and before you say but you don't have to heal DRed damage you still have to press the button of AM/Barrier/SLT for it to work… just like how revival is also only 1 button press…
You also have to factor in that SLT and Barrier require group to stand in a very specific location to gain benefit which can be planned but isn’t always going to happen

Feel like this is an If we are not first we are last and grass is greener on the other side argument

I’d like to say. Our tree is juicer! We now have a Monk dev! I applaud them and their fancy tree they have made.

To be fair, I honestly thought my mock tree was over the top crazy never going to ever happen ever ever ever. Then this dev comes out of nowhere and produces an even more OP better tree compared to mine! Crazy how Pyro knew such a thing could happen. That’s why I’m big panda.

I love the faeline stomp and the tiger palm cleave. Pyro called the tiger palm cleave mechanic btw!

I also think Inovkers will get a nerf or something will happen to that 1min yu’lon/chi-ji.

I also think Restorative Proliferation will get a nerf. A 50% proc rate is insane on a dot that ticks 9x. 40% more healing on 4 people will be huge!

1min Chi-Ji for Mythic+ will be amazing! Who else is excited for this? pretty much every pull we get 12 sec of OP healing! Combined with Restorative proliferation will be amazing!

Our Renewing Mist is going to be absolutely crazy next tier. The value of each Renewing Mist cast will be significantly higher compared to now. If you just do the basic math you’ll see this.

Also kind of happy to see a mistweaving build still being a thing. I don’t think it’ll be meta but still cool. I also had this in my mock tree…

Few questions remain!

  1. Can we extend the Mist Peaks EVM procs with Rising Mist???
  2. Can we extend the Rapid Diffusion procs with Rising Mist?? Could be amazing in raid. I don’t think I’ll take Rapid Diffusion for mythic+ because I think we’ll have 4-5 renewing mist out 24/7 in a 5man.
  3. Could w recolour the faeline stomp to green / mist like?? Bonedust brew maybe rename this to something else more monk like.

This is a really good looking tree and will be surprised if the vast majority of the synergy interactions even make it live. Like yu’lon every 1min with 33% mana reduce + mana tea will be a pumper in raid.

edit: My thoughts on mythic+ tree.

There is something to be said for how much easier rapid diffusion could make ReM upkeep for M+. Though it’ll be interesting to see just how many ReM can get out in raid.

Yeah I think you could be right. We’ll need to feel stuff out when the beta / DF is released.

Makes me wonder order of operation. Rapid Diffusion > Rising Mist HoT extension? So technically it’s 10 seconds of ReM per Rising Sun Kick.

The healer dmg is 100% cause if covenants. Take them away and monk will be near the top.
