Hated race?

We all have our favorite races in Wow (mine are worgen) but which race gets the most unnecessary hate? Terms of lore wise

Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

Overall, probably the Forsaken. Most of them didn’t choose their existence as a zombie and just about all of them have been shunned by their friends and/or family. In fact, a few have actually had attempts on their lives from said friends/family. If that’s not unnecessary hate, I don’t know what is. Strictly from a lore point of view.

Dwarf because it’s omega OP in m+ and I hate the aesthetics.

Gnomes without question. They are a running gag.

5 races come to mind ‘lore wise’:

Humans and Orcs:
As revered each race is to itself. As a human Orcs from the start of the game are largely free-reign. A problem near your start area and then in the farm and then in the red ridge mountains.

Likewise humans are the same to Orcs. The Theramore expedition is taking supplies, end them! Then you go after many more southward.

Night Elves: The ultimate expendables of the World of Warcraft. Evil Ghost night elves, cursed temple night elves, night elves cursed by the emerald nightmare, night elves turned into fish people you need to kill. Fire night elves near Amirdrassil. Night elves you must kill to invade Ashenvale, Night Elves that are trying to defend Ashara, you must end them. TYRANDE MY LOVE. Night elves that got baked in a gigantic horde bbq near some tree…

Goblin/Gnomes: Their ‘deaths’ have always been comical. To a large extend there is an impression that these races are expendable because they value their contributions over their safety.

Just the goblins, they are rip off artists, dirty, and their engineering is a safety hazard that falls apart and out of date.

That’s a feature and one of their most endearing qualities.

Are… Are you okay? You really should get that glow looked at by a doctor…

It seems… unhealthy…

I would say gnome, but you said unnecessary hate so that doesn’t really apply.

Goblin.

The music theme in Goblin towns. The quests in Goblin towns. Goblins themselves. Their speech. Everything that drives a Goblin.

They are greedy. They have zero respect for life, they’ll blow something, or someone, up and it’s no big deal to them. They are hideous. Their towns look like trash heeps. The quests are more of the above. The music in Goblin areas is cause for me to jab a steak knife in my ears. The voice of Goblins grates on my nerves.

In short, everything about them. I even refuse to do undermine.

Night Elves. Easily.

All they’ve done since WoW became a thing was take Ls. Come Cataclysm they lost Darkshore to the Twilight’s Hammer and an onslaught of elemental nonsense. Astranaar is being bombared by the Orcs and their outposts attacked, and the Orcs weren’t really in the business of taking prisoners.

Staghelm goes all fiery and thinks Ragnaros is a swell dude, which knocks off a real interesting character. War of the Thorns flat out deletes Teldrassil from the map because a warden had the audacity to talk back to Sylvanas, Malfurion almost just flat out dies, and Tyrande gets stricken by the ‘woman lead goes a bit crazy’ disease and does some really stupid things in a reckless manner for vengeance.

The Tyrande one is hard for me because she was one of my favorite characters in WC3: RoC. She single handedly fended off both the Orcs and the Burning Legion as she sought to rally her forces, including Sleepy Malfurion and everyone’s favorite scar boy Illidan. She was a no nonsense leader, and continued to be a no nonsense leader.

I really liked her scenario in Mists of Pandaria. She was fighting alongside Varian against Horde that were afflicted with Sha energies, and while Tyrande was really wanting to spill some blood, Varian was trying to temper her rage. It was great character building for both of them.

Now? With Shadowlands being the mess it ended up being I have no idea what’s going to happen to them. All they’ve done is lose, to the point where they’ve lost almost all of their identity. All other races can dress up as Wardens, now.

At least the gnomes were flat out ignored. It’s a fate better than what the Night Elves got.

Nuh uh. I even have the title to prove it, it is a big deal! And a big explosion.

Yeah, but then you see the Forsaken constantly acting like Scourge 2.0 so it muddies that water quite a bit. We get told by Sally Rattlebones she almost got beaten to death by her father when she returned home to let dear dad know she’s alive but we see Jaime Meurtre create a potion that boils your insides because he thinks it’s funny and live tested it on orphans.

Vulpera

Goblin haters are coming out of the wood works because now they have to experience warcraft as a whole instead of their usual human/elf theme.

Oh yeah, they are a mixed bag at best sometimes. No doubt about that.

Human, I had one human warrior and I deleted him because he was lame.

Hated by whom? I don’t think I hate any of the available races, but a few of them definitely needed a few more volumes of lore before they hit the character creation screen.

Most Allied Races can kind of skate through life living off the reems of lore their parent race has gathered up over the years. But Vulpera are a brand new race with exactly 1 zone’s worth of lore. A zone whos narrative isn’t even actually about them specifically.

Dracthyr had their spotlight stolen by the Aspects then the Night Elves. For a brand new core race without even the excuse of being an allied-race rush-job we know even less about them than the Vulpera.

I’m not on the delete Vulp/Drac train. I’m more on the develop vulp/drac further train. I personally feel like every new race needs the level of attention and detail that the Pandaren got in Mists.

I always love reading through these threads.

I don’t hate any race. I have a toon in every race and just about every class and every spec… except healers. I don’t play healers.

I love my elves in both factions.

I’m not a fan of humans and Kul Turans. They just feel dumpy. But I don’t hate them.

What are you talking about you goat. Dwarfs are the best looking race out of all races besides Tuskarr and Hobgoblin.
